Ive just bought a 2016 Vanquish. I didnt think it would have car play but on plugging it in on it came. All seemed well for ten minutes then it disconnected and i cant get it to work again no matter what i try!
A 2016 car will be either AMi II or AMi III depending on when it was produced. Still to have Carplay it will be AMi III (or a third party mod), so the most likely issue is that you are on one of the earlier firmware's which were somewhat flakey. What level of firmware do you have?
It's in the setup menu, the final option - "System Information".
3.1.0/1.100 was the final version I believe, which is the most stable.
Plenty of info here in this thread I made https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=16...

Ooh forgot to ask how do i tell if i have AMI 11 or 111?
If you have Carplay then it is either AMi III or possibly AMi II with an aftermarket modification, as AMi II didn't support carplay.AMi III came out in late 2016, Aug onwards, but thats build date, rather than registration date, but if you car was registered before Aug then it is almost certainly AMi II. If you have an aftermarket mod, then I think you would need to figure out who's it is and contact them.
Edit - just seen your firmware in the post above - that confirms you car is AMi III but you have an earlier unstable version. Contact your dealer for the final version as per my thread.

Ah so the 3 of the 3.0.1 denotes AMi III thats good news.AMi III came out in late 2016, Aug onwards, but thats build date, rather than registration date, but if you car was registered before Aug then it is almost certainly AMi II. Thanks for your help Adam i appreciate it.

Hi I have ‘11 V12V I’m interested in the carplay install but I don’t want an aftermarket toggle/wheel thingy in view. I watched the video of the example car on the website. Has anyone done this without there being any visible elements ?
I installed it in my 2010 V8V and it isn't completely invisible, but its hidden away behind the steering wheel on the left. Can't think where you'd put it so its completely invisible but still accessible.melhuishjames said:
Thank you - I was hoping I might be able to get away hiding it in the little “ash tray” in front on the arm rest. I know it’s minor but would just like to of had nothing visible.
Thanks
I would think the best thing to do is drop James Hawkes-Reed at Aston Installations a PM. He would be able to give you the available options. That’s assuming you will get it fitted by them of course. He is on here and on Facebook too, so is easily contactable. Good luck. Thanks

lol - I think I must be the only Aston owner who has Carplay factory OEM and finds it utterly useless!
Umm, I also not a fan most of the time, as I prefer the AM interface look. However, being able to navigate on Waze with totally up-to-date maps and the speed camera warnings is a huge benefit. I therefore only tend to activate it when I'm heading somewhere a decent distance away.AstonZagato said:

My AMi III system seems to keep the maps up to date itself. I'm not sure how to be honest but Ive seen new junctions appear on it over the last 4 yrs and new 3D buildings appear in the city.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
