Anyone else had the problem of the disappearing rear number plate when the exhaust gets hot and melts the sticky pad glue
Travelling through Belgium yesterday and the number plate flew off on the motorway
Had to do my best colouring in to get by ! Ffs
Never seem to have much luck on euro tours!

Use better 3M double sided wink

Did a small child make that new number plate for you!

I had the same happen when using Halfords branded sticky pads.
Fortunately, the plate did not fall off completely.

I then used Hills branded sticky pads (also from Halfords) and they have been fine.
Three individual pads per plate.

Your Vantage must be a very special, pre-launch edition. getmecoat

Never had this issue but am pretty sure my rear numbers plates have always been attached by screws, not adhesive tape. When it stops raining I will go out and check.

Just checked and both have two screws to fit. Front ones are on with adhesive tape.

Mine fell off my company car last week and once I had got round getting a new one made which involved a day at BMW (they would not make one without the logbook, which I don’t have) I asked why they can’t be screwed on to be told using screws is going to be against the law soon.

Not really a design flaw if they aren't attached using the correct fasteners. Not using the supplied screw holes and wondering why the plates fall off is user error.

Not convinced by adhesive pads. My old E36 BMW 3 Series has them for the rear plate as the screw holes have rusted. One day, during the recent hot weather, I noticed that the plate was at an odd angle. Seems the adhesive must become moist when it gets hot and start to lose grip.
