But what I don't understand is why does he own it if he's not going to drive it? Just get a high quality picture of one and stick it on the garage wall instead. Or better still, here's a business opportunity - develop a holographic projector that people can install in their garages so it really feels like they own the car. And they can still fill their garage with all the other st they never use. Win win smile
Pete i know you know i hardly use mine , but its there if i want and its far better than looking at a picture or video also i have other cars and other reasons why i choose not to use the V12V that often, but i love the fact that i own it and that gives me a lot of pleasure whether i use it or not ,i could not care less.
I,m sure vpr is the same and as their are so many other low mileage cars out there,i,m sure we are not alone.
Then again i could have an illness biggrin

Because he just wants to own it??! rolleyes What you do not seem to understand is that there is absolutely no justification needed to just own an Aston Martin and not drive it. Accumulating miles has got nothing to do with enthusiasm for the car or the marque. It is no crime to want to keep a car in pristine “as new” condition.smash

Its amazing what starts to dry up/perish when they are left standing.
There is a valid point, of course. I try to prevent my car from suffering damages from idle standing by driving it in the summer season at least once a month for appr. 25km at a stretch. Should be enough to get all systems heated up properly. I neither have the time nor the money for building up greater mileage with all the subsequent consumables costs (clutch, brakes, filters etc.). Annual service obligatory, of course. Total current mileage after the first season: 369km.

Really, I am starting to get gutted by threads like “Who puts one the most miles on his car?” etc. Or: “Not driving the car is an insult to the engineers who built it” – what a ridiculous plain bullst! I do not understand what drives the low-mileage haters in this forum.ranting

Oh, and mind you, I am no millionaire investor who is trying to avoid depreciation from his investment-in-spe V12 Vantage. I just own a shabby new V8 Vantage S which I bought because it was and is my dream car and which is worth more or less nothing – irrespective of having low mileage or not. Thank God!

Sorry, but I had to get this out – I´ll get a beer now and cool down again.drink

Very sorry if I offended you Emilio because I certainly didn't intend to. I'm just having a laugh and there was no mention of "hate" whatsoever, just said I didn't understand it. Perhaps my humour doesn't make it out of the screen sometimes.

Agreed. Don’t have to use a car to be an enthusiast.

Done 4600 miles in my old V8 X pack in 10 years which is enough for me. I will never sell it so mileage doesn’t matter lmtjough it’s now onlynon 29k

1600 miles in a year in the V12v and 2000 miles in the DBS IN 8 years.

I bought the V12 to use regularly but truth is come summer I have a load of other cars that need airing.

The DBS is as new and I quite like keeping it time warp. I have no real interest in driving it as if sooner be driving something else, however it is a thing of beauty and proud to own it.

love my V12 Vantage and when I got back from driving around the NC500 in July I literally wanted to get back in it and do it again. Yet in reality I have driven it only once since. Not to limit the mileage but because I have been away working and in between just fitting in all of the family stuff that is life. The thing is though that when I’m having a bad day, just the thought of the next trip in it makes me smile. Value to me is more than what it’s worth from a monetary point of view

Paul - very well said, my thoughts exactly, mine gets used when I can and I’m happy to have it in my garage. We don’t tell people how to run their homes or look after their family, so why tell someone how to use their cars!

I've owned my V12VS since June and have done 2500 miles in it since then including trip to Germany. My problem is I want to drive it more but just don't have enough opportunities! I can understand guys like VPR who has several cars not putting any real miles on his DBS but for me if it's your only fun car it has to be driven! I also testdrove a DBS while I was looking at the Vantage but didn't like gearbox in the DBS even though the car itself was stunning to behold

OMG I never told anyone to do anything. I just said I didn't understand the approach of owning but not driving a very nice expensive car and was clearly just joking about pictures/holograms in the garage. Ease up people please. No hate here whatsoever.

Thats's it, I'm never going to mention annual usage/mileage ever again. Sorry sorry sorry, I'm not a bad person really. OK will that do?

Agree. With a couple of other fun cars to choose from, and with the V12V being “too rough” for the missus, it doesn’t get much use, but remains the favorite.

Another good point. When I bought mine I took the trouble out in it and she wasn’t impressed by the ride (no surprise there then) though I swear her M3 is much firmer. Hence we usually take a softer option

He has probably done nothing!
For reference I sold my car last week 2010 Quantum silver 6000 miles. Mint. Took £80k for it. Buyer delighted. Thats a price guide for others I guess.

Hi guys, yes it was a private sale. Has gone down to near Brighton-way. I do miss it yes and to be honest now I have a nipper I may get a DBS circa 2012-14 car in the spring. Why oh why I never drove my Vantage enough heaven knows.
