I’m sure a few years ago they were around £15k. A YouTube vid prompted me to have a look on eBay and they’re all a lot more monies.

I have to say time has been good to them and to my eye still look very good indeed.

Are you hoping to buy “the cheapest Aston Martin DB7 in the country” per chance?

You been watching Hoovie's garage? It prompted me to search out early DB7s hehe

Still a few around for under £20k, though they do appear a bit pricier than before. Maser 3200gt still at £10k though.

Looked into ones at the cheaper end of the market earlier this year, bought a much newer BMW 6 series for 1/2 the price...

They look great on the outside, but the interior is quite naff imo and then theres the rust... Not worth the £30-40k that some of the late ones are for sale at personally.

I agree, you could easily swap the badge for a Jaguar one and you couldn't tell the difference on the inside or outside to an old XK8.

The replacements however....

All the good ones are being retained by owners I imagine, driving the value up. The i6 is essentially a Jaguar/Ford in many respects, so doesn’t seem to have mega running costs respectively, unless you are particularly unlucky. They’re an attractive “entry” into Aston ownership for many. You never know, early V8 Vantages or indeed again the DB7 may come down to the mid to high teens in the next few years.

I used to wince at the running costs of an Aston by reading on here, until I worked for a VAG dealer...

The early DB7 is a nail, 20 odd years old, zero rustproofing and not very well put together. A second gen XK8 sounds a much better idea.

Are they really that bad for rust? Apart from one I saw that had corrosion around the rear screen, I’ve not seen a rusty DB7.

20 year old Jaguar based car with poor rust protection. The wings, boot etc were plastic, alloy doors possibly - can't recall. They rot like a bd underneath.

Every DB7 I have seen at shows has been rusty, I seem to remember it being where the rear bumper meets the rear arch.

My Jag specialist warned me off them, as he is rubuilding one for a customer, 'rotten as a pear' were his words...

Oddly, I much preffer the looks of the DB7 over the XK8, which I have never been a fan of.

The GT/GTA models fetch strong money.
There are several for 75 grand! You could get a v12v coupe for less money

Given the option I’d have a DB7 GT over a DB9, but a mk1 Vanquish over either! The mk1 Vanquish was, and still is one of the most beautiful designs in my book.

Yep Vanquish MkI.
I think the DB7s are benefiting from the resurgence in the marque. Great for all owners of all models smile
