It saddens me to see how people view AMOC because I have made many friends through it. I attend the type of events that I like, make friends with the people I get on with and ignore the things I don’t like. There haven’t been that many of those. Just a different perspective.
Exactly this. When I bought my Aston 12 years ago I immediately joined the club. I entered on some tours and made some great friends. Of course all clubs have different types of people but one can gravitate towards those you enjoy spending time with. Out of interest, my previous experience was with the TVRCC (I still have my TVR) and Denise and I wondered if the AMOC would be rather too posh compared to the rabble in TVRs, in fact there are at least 3 x of our good TVR friends locally now in the AMOC. Most of the AMOC drives and tours I have been on are well populated by the more modern cars and I see that as a health sign. Edited by RichB on Wednesday 20th February 15:39

I see you are in the SW Jon. I have been in AMOC for 10 years now, 7 as Area Rep for Devon and Cornwall, and have to say if you turned up in a non Gaydon Aston to one of our events you would definitely be in the minority. The current Area Rep for Bristol and Avon drives a DB9 and the one for Devon/Cornwall drives a V8V. You will see from my profile that I am a serial Gaydon owner and know your Vanquish would not be out of place at all.

My gut feeling is that it's dependant upon which area you sign up for, and like everything in life, it's the people that make or break the experience. To be fair, I've heard little in the way of negative feedback regarding the South West UK areas, but the general summary of the club overall currently isn't a positive one at present. It saddens me to see how people view AMOC because I have made many friends through it. I might still give it a go at some point, you never know until you try and all that...

Typical AMOC member reply is that. You need to get your facts straight before you post. Yes I was banned off the forum ONLY for speaking the truth. I left the club on my own accord. Didn't wish to be part of the numpty brigade any longer. Maybe in a few years when all the old crusty numpties are dead and the younger arse licking types have no one to suck up to and much younger and newer blood has taken over the running it will become a more pleasing place to belong to but I doubt very much that will happen as from what I already know and hear a lot its all corrupt still.Edited by Car mad enthusiast on Thursday 21st February 10:36

I think there is truth on both sides of the equation and I, for one, used to enjoy Brendan’s forum input.
Given the strength of feeling by some and the fact that there seems to be more later model interest here than on the AMOC site, has anyone thought about setting up an alternative club?
Just a thought!

The PH forum is free, which has massive benefits in terms of people being able to drift in/out
We organise meets on here
There's even been one or two track days organised
True, we don't get a discount with Locktons (the reason I suspect many, including myself, on here are AMOC members). But what else would you get by having a paid club? Serious question
I don’t think the Lockton’s discount is any sort of incentive. Hearing that many, like me, get a better deal elsewhere.
Their forum members do have some very good technical advice but these days there seems to be a core of people that are glued to it and respond to every discussion immediately. It seems like they’re imposing their personality and views on everything.
Not the variety of views and contributions that you get here on PH.
I’ve all but given up on their forum but keep my membership for now. I’m okay with their local meetings but find most of their HQ organised events uninteresting and attended by too many people I’ve nothing in common with except AM.
They’ve taken a direction that is no longer of any interest. I’ve no need in my life for gala dinners and black tie raffles.
I want a car club, not a dining club.

Plus of course the countless FB/WhatApp groups that will have been formed as a result of meets originally arranged on here.

LMAO. I totally agree. That club has only one agenda and that is to preserve their long standing black tie dinner club nights and wife swapping antics at all those posh stuck up places they always use to have their gatherings at which are probably owned my most of them anyway looking for income to keep them running to the detriment of honest hard working class folk who can now afford to buy an Aston Martin which they hate. Elitists dicks the lot of them. They charge a stupid amount of money each year to " belong " so to speak and then loads more money on top of that to attend the events they put on which can add up to a tidy sum for some owners and when you arrive some prick wearing red trousers and a white coat and silly hat and a Muttley the dog medal dangling off the coat guides you down a muddy wet track on to freshly cut grass to the concours area where you then get docked points for having grass inbetween your tyre treads. LOL.
And they claim to be a stylish club. NOT. The ones who run it have an agender and its just for their personal gains and nothing else.

What a relief - the V8 Vantage 2005 to 2018, does not appear to be on their list of acceptable cars.

I think that's changed quite recently, it used to say 'Any Aston Martin' I guess there's too much riff raff in early Vantages. The kind of turn out you get on a wet grim day at Manchester Airport....

Thankyou David. The only good thing that came out of me being an AMOC member was the amount of like minded Aston Martin owner friends and true enthusiasts of the marque I made and still keep in touch with. Out of all the car clubs ive been involved with and still am the AMOC is indeed the worst club ever. I would NOT recommend anyone joining it and wasting their hard earned money on the rip off fee they charge. I mentioned " hard earned " as a lot of Aston owners these days actually work where as the majority of the old and bold coffin dodgers have had it handed on a plate to them and these are the numpties who have been allowed and voted for by the elitist snobs within that club to run it for all these years to their own agenda and a bloody corrupt one at that.Given the strength of feeling by some and the fact that there seems to be more later model interest here than on the AMOC site, has anyone thought about setting up an alternative club?

I still love and own my Aston along with my other classic cars I own and love and I certainly DONT need the AMOC to do that. They can go an do one as far as I am concerned.
To anyone unfortunate enough to still be in that club and thinking of leaving it then DO IT NOW I say and SAVE your money and spend it on your car instead of funding this out of date and out of touch with reality elitist club of stuck up snobs.
