Yes sorry Aston Workshop, my mistake smile

They seem very thorough..had my V8 in to them when I owned it.

I currently have a 991.2 GTS 4 pdk but looking for something a little more interesting as although it’s very accomplished and flattered me immensely around the Ring, it’s boring. The V12, even just the IDEA of a V12, excites me biggrin

The 65k one at Aston Workshop was mine before the current owner and a friends before me. Car has been garaged, maintained well and driven regularly. If I had the money spare then I would buy it back in a heartbeat. Great car, looked after and driven properly.

Get it bought.

I did have a brake issue with mine but I don't believe it was related to any management, press or demo use.
What problem did you have, anything serious? The brakes give me the willies every time I think about them.
One of the rivets/bobbins that hold the disc to the bell broke and the disc went out of balance and wore unevenly i.e. f****d it completely, weird failure, the rest of the discs were in really top condition - makes me think that if AM had used my car as a press or launch car they must have replaced them - so BR agreed to sell me a single disc (plus new pads obvs) and all is now well.

The car now has 40k miles on it and Mike's opinion was that the discs now all have at least 40k left - at my miles/year that's should make 10 years!

What is the life span for the ceramics? I am looking at a few and I am worried about the brakes. I would much rather have steels and no worries :/ Aston Works have a good example up for 65k but this “ex works” thing now worries me also, and it has a private plate so not sure how I’d check..I have tested the car and initial impressions are true love, but there may well be horrors beneath..
Other than those that have tracked them I don't know if that many have actually been worn out (I'm ready to be corrected), the guidance I was given is driven 'properly' a set of pads should last 15k miles and a set of discs lasts for 3 sets of pads, trying to think on UK roads how much of my time I'm able to drive 'properly' it wouldn't surprise me if I see a fair bit more than that.

I'm with you, I'd rather have steels, it was predominantly a marketing thing I'm sure - as well as weight saving obvs and they are fabulous to use.

That’s interesting as on my front discs the bobbin thingys are going a bit rusty. I wonder if you can source them separately and replace them.

Edit: Just came across this interesting doc, hope link works.

Hello all. Jumped in to here from the TVR forums and after 15 years with a TVR Chimaera, thought it was time to try an Aston.

Been watching the classifieds a while, and when the £60k V12 Vantage turned up on Autotrader the day before Christmas Eve, I assumed it would be miles away. Turns out it was 7 miles away! So, a quick trip to the Lexus Dealer, hastily arranged test drive on cold Scottish Roads, and deposit placed.

Lexus have been great, and agreed a new MoT, Service, and new tyres at Edinburgh Aston Martin in the deal. Collection day set for Friday (Snow Forecast!) but have a few questions if I may?

1. Front brake calipers have lost some of their lacquer over the black gloss paint. Easy to fix?
2. Aston advised that the exhaust valves are stuck, but not sure if that means stuck open or closed. Does this require a new back box?
3. Fuel wise, super unleaded only, or regular fine?

Many thanks in advance, and will let you know how the car gets on with some Highlands road trips planned for 2019!

95 is fine, I’m reliably informed the V12Vs don’t have a knock sensor therefore can’t get the good out of super.

Btw, this contradicts what it says in the manual.

Enjoy it!

Congrats on the purchase
1) Don't know sorry.
2) Easy to check from the looking under the rear of the car, you can wiggle the valves. If they operate then its probably the vacuum pump that's not operating. If the pump isn't working then they're stuck open (loud)
3) Regular is fine.

Congrats on the purchase. I was next in line for that one if you didn't have it. I had already asked them if they would do a complete fluid change if I purchased it and they agreed, Bugger didn't think about the tyres I was a bit wary initially as obviously it was a trade in but sounds like you have a bargain, ....enjoy
