i purchased a solar panel trickle charger in the hope it may keep the battery topped up in my DB9 (2006)

It connects via Cigarette lighter socket (or whatever its called nowadays)

Would it work plugged into the cigarette lighter socket in the main cockpit or does it need to go to the one in the boot

I read somewhere about some sockets work both ways (ie charging battery) but others don't

any suggestions - i am (obviously) non technical smile

If the DB9 is the same as a Vantage, then you need to use the socket in the boot.
I am almost certain that the cabin socket, is only live when the ignition is switched on.

It will be interesting to see if a solar panel, can provide enough current to keep a car battery fully charged. Please let us know.

I have two vehicles with solar panel chargers keeping them alive during infrequent usage - had no problems in 2 years.

Mapins sell some great ones for this purpose - ah yes they went bust - not sure where you'd get them now LOL

Yes, only accessory socket in the boot will work, it remains live with the ignition off. You can also charge via the +ve connector in the engine bay

I think that depends on age. The OP says it's a 2006 DB9, and at least the 2006 Vantage can be charged from the cabin socket (mine is).

Thanks - so the 2006 Vantage can be charged from the cabin ?!

Wonder if anyone knows if the same change was made to the 2006 DB9?

On my 2010 Vantage the power supply sockets stay live when ignition is off. Which means I have to remember to unplug dashcam when I get out.

Try it and see. My 2005 db9 cabin source does NOT stay on when ignition is off.
