Well that's the options list

My first impressions of the V8 were good. The seating postition and front layout is almost identicle to the DB9. The gear lever felt nice and firm and a great change through the gate (6 speed). A small gripe I had with the DB9 was the use of plastic dials on the heater and aircon controls. This has been addressed and they are now made of a lovely milled aluminium
The part that really impressed me was the boot space. It looked almost double that of the DB9 and a nice little parcel shelf for coats etc.
The shorter wheelbase I think looks fantastic and will obviously greatly improve the handling from it's bigger brother.

I think this car is going to be a bit special, I can't wait to drive one. (hopefully in September)

Here's the colour choices at no extra cost option.
If you don't pick anything from here, there are a further 50 to choose from at an extra cost of £1000.
Anything after that will again require a supliment.
Basically they can make any colour to order, but it will cost you.

Here's some other pics:

plus a couple of nice cars in the car park

... and of course to sort the riff raff out

So its not too difficult to spec a £90K AMV8.

What colour are the brake calipers as standard?

And more importantly: what did you go for colour & options wise?

How exciting.

I went for :

Paint: Onxy Black
Trim : Obisdian Black
Alcantara Headlining colour: Tailor's Grey
Interior stitching : coarse Red
Carpet Colour : Obsidian Black
Facia : Anthracite
Brake Calipers : Red

So basically black, black with red stitching and red calipers.
Pretty much all the bells and whistles as well (except the first aid kit )

Superb choice - sounds lovely . Black/black is the only colour of Aston to be seen in.

So, when is delivery? And can I be first in line for a ride?

Top colour-combo Mr Shadytree.

Righto, can I be third in line for a ride?

PS - I can't really see anyone "poverty" speccing one....most of those options really should be standard.

I'm assuming Autocar will have an article next week on the V8 as this weeks says issue states they'll be driving 2 new Astons (surely the other will be the DB9 Volante).

Shady - I take it there's still no official word on a GT/S/Vantage (Vantage Vantage?) version?

No word yet on a 'S' a 'VV', but interestingly I noted on the Glue bonding robot machine thingamy a dial marked for the V8 Volante. I asked, and they recon that should be a year or so behind this.

I hope they keep the "speedster" humps (as seen very briefly on the "Ultimate history of AM" DVD).

As everyone else seems to have beaten me to Blagging the first ride, may I be the first to unashamedly drool over what looks like being a glorious car

I'm suprised Oyster silver isn't a standard colour - it's one of my favs on the DB9.

*Thread divert!* - Wedgegirl...do you still have the 350i? I used to have one but it broke my heart as it was sooooooooooooo unreliable. Mine was was just like the one in your profile picture (minus spoiler and with OZ five spokes). Still, it was one of the FINEST sounding cars on the planet. My misus reckoned the whole house shook when I started it up in the garage

Yes, it's been a very reliable car right up until this year, needed some chassis/gear box repairs. Will be getting a brand new chassis later this year, along with an ECU upgrade.

Now that's enough of lowering the tone, I was enjoying this fine thread

I read on the AMOC site that:

1. You have to spec the 19" alloys as the 18" ones did not pass the pre production tests!

2. You have to spec full leather as the fabric did not pass fire testing!

3. The hifi is from Alpine not Linn.

Very upset about the hifi - only 700W?! Did you guys read the Top Gear magazine with the AMV8 on the cover - the one which came in 4 different colours "collectors issue" etc. Anyways the woman who designed the AMV8 wrote several pages explaining how this car will be the first proper Aston made for the new age and for the modern person - in particular the hifi always used to suck in previous Astons and so she specifically put in a 2000W Linn hifi. I was very happy about that - the "Alpine Premium Sound System" in my DB7 VV is absolutely useless - some halfords 6x9s would sound better I assure you!

Great choice of colours for your V8 - bet you can't wait to drive it
