Hey shadytree,

I'm off to Gaydon tomorrow.....any questions you forgot to ask?

Also, was the colour choice made from the charts or do they have V8's in several colours there.

There are only about 4 V8's on the production line. (Pre-production test models).
Most of the colour choice will b efrom samples (see pic at top of thread)

Have fun today, and I'd love to hear how you got on

Madness, lovly car but an £80k motor that you pay extra for HID xenons and leather?

As for the stereo , 700w is plenty, its ot wattage that counts, its sustained current and speaker sensitivity, 50W should be loud enough in ideal conditions.

I went for :

Paint: Onxy Black
Trim : Obisdian Black
Alcantara Headlining colour: Tailor's Grey
Interior stitching : coarse Red
Carpet Colour : Obsidian Black
Facia : Anthracite
Brake Calipers : Red

So basically black, black with red stitching and red calipers.
Pretty much all the bells and whistles as well (except the first aid kit )

Superb choice - sounds lovely . Black/black is the only colour of Aston to be seen in.

So, when is delivery? And can I be first in line for a ride?

I like Black on the modern Aston's but still think California Sage is the best for the DB9

Hi I applied four months ago for one of the firsts V8 here in Italy but... I'm still waiting to spec it because retailer doesn't have any precise info/date...

So I'm very happy to read news from You...

I have a little question: I don't like polished finishing around lateral windows, (as I can see in Your photo of the titanium V8), and, as I'll go for the titanium I prefer the black one... do You know wich is the factory setting? Polished or black??

Thanks

They were discussing this over on the AMOC site at the weekend www.amoc.org

Can't remember what the outcome was though

I'm sure Aston will happily part you from a wad of cash to do it for you though!

Oh another little question... ;-)

Here in Italy retailer says that if I want one of the first cars that will be delivered I can't spec it but I'm forced to buy it with a boundle of options (such as full leather, satnav, heated front screen and seats...)and if I want it fully specced as I like I have to wait for the second stock that will be delivered at the end of the year and not in october... doesen't matter for the boundle, I'll problably buy all options included, but it doesn't include xenon lights, powerfold mirrors and other options I absolutely WANT on that car :-(

Can You confirm that?? From Your posts I understand that for You (in UK) is not the same, and that You can have for october the car fully specced...

Thanks

That topic has either been hosted here or on the AMOC site. I believe that's pretty much what happens over here too, the early cars are "fully specced" and you have to accept that. I guess its partly to ensure that when the first cars appear on the used market, they are fully specced and therefore that should keep the prices up.

Personally, most of the options should be standard (in my opinion). Most people will fully spec it.

Oh yes I know that this topic has already been discussed (on AMOC I opened one on it, by myself), but now we have someone that had been to the factory and maybe he has more information: I'm repeating those questions because (and here , I think, You missed the point ;-) ) the launch boundle IS NOT FULLY SPECCED!!!!!! For example it doesn't include (at least here in Italy) Xenon lights or powerfold mirrors, and some other options I think MUST be included in a forced launch boundle (the price of it, here, is supposed to be more or less 8.500 euros)... Be patient with me, and try to understand; this is not price matter: options not included? Simple I'll buy them but... I need to have the chance to... ;-)

When I specced mine (for one of the first batch) I was able to choose any, all or none of the options on offer (other than the 'optional' 19 inch wheels which were the only ones available).

I didn't feel any pressure to have a highly specced one, but there again.....most of the items are necessary on car like this so I went for many of them (including xenon and power fold). But I certainly had the choice and I have an early car.

Allornothing,
There are a few cars for each dealer that have been ordered ready specced. These are for people in the list above those that are visiting the factory at the moment. Shady was one of those but decided to wait to be able to chose his own spec.

Thanks rich1231, You confirmed what happened to me...

And that's what I'll probably do... if delivery date will not be delayed too much from first extimated (october).

No problem, I dont think the dealers have done a great job communicating the situation to be honest. I expect the volums for the V8 are going to stretch them to begin with.

Allornothing, did you spec Satnav/GSM/ and Stereo upgrade?

Im not sure about sat nav at the mo, I know it may improve for resale but 1750 for non state of the art rankles me abit.

The dealers can only pass on the information they are given...

AllorNothing - what colour outdoors and what spec indoors did you go for?

I have just had my call from the dealer to go and spec mine on Friday. I am curious to see if there is any consensus on what colours the car is going to look "right" in.

At the moment I am favouring a silver with black indoors or a titanium with burgundy indoors (as in the Fezza 575 tasteful combo).

Hi rich1231 and beej,

I think I have been quite 'cowardly' with my choice (and I have had one eye on the eventual resale).

After looking at all the colour combinations (on DB9's) around the factory and nearly got brave.....but in the end I really liked the one in the atrium that we were able to look around. Plus I didn't have to try to imagine what it would look like....because I could see one!

So mine is Mercury Silver, with Phantom Grey leather (which many people thought was black anyway!) and black carpets. The headlining is Tailors Grey as this lightens the interior (which could feel quite dark without).

I went for the satnav (as I think it is essential for resale.....despite the fact that my Tom Tom cost £400 and works really well.....although could look somewhat out of place). I didn't go for the GSM as I never used it on my 996 and my bluetooth works really well by itself).

I added a few other 'little' additions...heated seats etc, but chose not to upgrade the sound. The information on this wasn't good enough to spend £1000 and the standard unit will sound fine for me most of the time....especially for 5 Live! Plus I like the sound of the engine!!

Hope this helps

AoN

PS I see what you mean on the early cars.....however I still got the impression that the first ones would all come at the same time (pre-specced or individually specced).
