V12V time to sell?

I lost 50% in 5 years on my top spec (new) 2013 DB9.2. .....
For 5 years, that might be quite good, Bob.
When I bought my 4.7, the retail level had already dropped 43% from new list.
Maybe at trade-in price it might have dropped 50%, and that was after just 2.75 years and 8,000 miles.
Funnily enough, throughout the following 5 years, prices remained surprisingly level, ending a further 10% down.
More recently they have dropped further.
I think the lesson here is probably, that buying between 2 and 3 years old, is a good time for most cars.
One of our fellow PHers recently mentioned a new V12VS costing £176,000, being sold within the first year.
That would be an "Ouch!" for me.
Sold my 2012 V12V after 3 years. Was a good car, just not smart enough to keep it. Just found 2011 5 miles away with only 1500 miles. They are asking $120K. Seriously considering it. I do believe that they will appreciate one day. A V12 with a manual and stunning looks. As Big brother becomes more present in the car's tech, I think people will clamor for an analog beast like the V12V.
Well I’ll let you know how I get on, not the best time to try and sell but testing the water. If it doesn’t sell by end of season I’m happy to keep into next year......
What do peeps think of this, would this attract you as a buyer??.......

It’s in the best colour available and has lightweight seats.

I think it's worth more. I'd be interested to understand where you got that price. What do peeps think of this, would this attract you as a buyer??.......

Hi John. Price is the hardest thing to decide on. Yes I think it’s worth much more....towards £80k but £75k min. However, looking at all the dealer cars with warranties for sale at moment then it’s possibly reasonably priced. The market is depressed at the moment with high end cars and the values offered by dealerships for mine are eye-wateringly low atm. Looks great to me. Best of luck getting a deal you are comfortable with. It's human nature to always wonder if you paid a bit too much or sold for too little. If you're like me then it's worth a few quid if I sell to someone who may care for it almost as much as I have. So if you feel it's time to sell and move on, be flexible and you'll surely find the right person.
I'm probably ready to sell my fire red V12V (unique colour in UK). But I keep prevaricating.

Another Mako blue owner in thinks Mako blue car is worth more shocker I’m selling my lowly Quantum car shortly and I think a realistic private sale value would only just start with a 6. I think the car is priced about right.
Still somewhat surprised at how the V12V is depreciating all of a sudden. Yes I appreciate this happens but have totally misjudged by what I’ve been seeing. Thought the V12V would hold its value a little bit better than what appears to be going on now.. Also looks like everyone is selling there cars too! I guess everyone has their reasons but it appears the market for these cars has changed?
Phil your car is stunning. Good luck with your sale.

I would argue that there are two types of depreciation - market-wide and idiosyncratic. From what I can see we have market-wide depreciation due toPhil your car is stunning. Good luck with your sale.
(1) legal risk - will petrol cars be banned?
(2) poor productivity growth leading to poor economic growth
(3) political risk - what would Corbyn do if he got the top job?
(4) the "B" word that won't be mentioned (at least not by me)
I don't see any idiosyncratic impact on the V12 Vantage. The AMG engine version appears to be a worthy successor to the V12V rather than the V8 and perhaps this is causing dislocation in market pricing due to the thin nature of the AMG engine model pre-owned market.
All just my perspective, your mileage may vary. Mine can be 2.6mpg at WOT maximum attack, or 99.99mpg on a hill with no throttle...

But the Mako blue model is the launch colour. I even entered the contest to name it, but my entry was overlooked by the short-sighted Bez regime...

1. Hopefully unlikely in the next 10 years or so.
2. True due to the B word and fear of 3.
3. If catweazle gets the top job Aston Martins will be worth nothing but scrap.
4. Despite what dealers are telling me this is having an effect.
Maybe Clarkson was prophetic in his review of the V12V what we maybe seeing is an ending?
I bloody hope not!
New fossil fuelled vehicles may be banned eventually, likely we'll see the phasing out of new diesels in the next 5/6 years, then new petrol-only a few years after, before hybrids go and we're left with battery electric and possibly hydrogen powered vehicles, increased taxes on fossil fuels would also be used to encourage change over.
Eventually ICE cars will be a novelty, used by collectors at the weekend or for special trips, with higher taxes for road use and fuel (which will cost more due to lack of demand) to keep those trips to a minimum.
However I envisage a future where people will resto-mod petrol cars with electric power-trains that provide the 'feel' of a ICE plant, possibly even as a combination of 'engine, petrol tank & exhaust' replacements.
