I think that it should come down to what you want from a car, and how you use it.
The Aston is definitely neither the fastest nor the most resolved dynamically, but it's hard to match it on the "feel good" factor.
If you're looking for power and speed, an R8 (which in my opinion gives the Aston a run for its money aesthetically) or a 911 are probably a better choice, but could feel a bit normal in everyday speeds.
As some people above, i would also suggest an AMG GT. Having spent some time behind the wheel of one recently, i found it to be very fast and ages ahead of the Aston in terms of tech, but at the same time it can give you that special feeling, even if you're stuck in traffic.

AMG GT imo they are ugly.
It was one of those or the db9.2 for me when I was looking for my next car a couple of years ago. The GTs was/is dynamically a brilliant car but my thoughts turned to how it would age as a keeper. I was into my SL55 when I got that back in 2003 and at the time thought it was a stunner, looking at them now and they just haven’t aged that well, and I think the same with the GTs. The recent facelift has helped but it just isnt ‘quite’ right. The shut lines on the bonnet scream water ingress issues (having had the pleasure of a wedge TVR many moons ago and the boot design nightmare), the rear lights look like they dont quite fit flush, theres just a lot of ‘meh’ for me which was disappointing because I still really want to want one. The DB9 by contrast was and is bang on, every angle and every line is just perfect. Of course it is entirely down to personal taste. Having the same ‘meh’ feeling looking at the macs. 1st world problems.Always felt the Gen 1 R8 V10 plus was more a V12 Vantage competitor than the V8. At 60-65k it's an awesome bit of kit imo. I made the switch from the R8 to a V12VS last yr and they are v diff cars, R8 faster but the V12 more special they both look great tho...the top end of the V10 is sensational. Alfa Giulia QF gets rave reviews but it is a saloon car so maybe not what OP is after. Cayman GT4 not far from that budget either but I considered one last year when changing and it didn't stand a chance after some time in the V12 Vantage.

Not thought about the Alfa will have to have a good look at that.
Surprised no-one has suggested the Maserati GranTurismo, why just no-one thought of it or just keep well clear?
The Granturismo is a wonderful car. I had one for 6 years and to 54k miles before swapping in for a V12VS. It let me down twice, both times with a flat battery. It seats 4 grown-ups in comfort, looks and sounds amazing and will cross continents happily. Well with a look. And a listen. www.sportsmaserati.co.uk will tell you everything you ever need to know about them, and then some. Surprised no-one has suggested the Maserati GranTurismo, why just no-one thought of it or just keep well clear?
