Tbh I don't care 5k one way or the other doesn't really matter for me on my car...as for Vulcant with his 240k list for a a bespoke Vantage that is 10-15% better than my robo manual V12 in the real world well good luck! I must ask didnt you thing there were more unique and desirable cars to spend such a wedge on??
Ouch! Below the belt. I suspect he has already had a WTF moment or two on that purchase. No need to rub salt in.Anyhow, I bought mine on 2k, now it is on nearly 6k after 4 months, will get another 1k this year then likely two more European road trips next along with the obligatory smile-inducing Sunday morning hoons which are not high mileage. Maybe I sell in 5 years and lose a bit or maybe I am right and it stays flat or goes up. Either way it makes me smile just to look at and makes me laugh to drive.

Anyway, as is always the case with these value threads, my advice is as follows: Buy, drive, enjoy. Don't expect to make money doing it though. If you want to lose a shed load of money buy new and sell after 2 years. If you don't, buy at 1-3 years old and let someone else take the hit.
My thoughts exactly. I'm not fussed about the kudos of having a brand new car.I've had 3 Astons - all bought at 2-3 years old, well maintained examples with less than 10,000 miles and about 2/3 price of a new one.The first 2 were sold after a few years with little depreciation.
I originally bought madcal's car new and he's right, despite a hefty discount and only 1900 miles I did take a hit but....
The but is, I also have a DBS manual and after a NC500 run in madcal's I decided with the exception of the dampening, the DBS is the better drivers car. The gearbox (as in the V12V which I've also had) is far nicer to use than the 7 speed in the V12VSM and the DBS handles better due a longer wheelbase and being only 15kg heavier.
When I parked side by side, to my eyes the DBS takes it on looks. So yes, a loss on sale but I don't regret it. Exe-TC are in the process of making replacement dampers based on the units in the Singer DLS which should make it perfect, can't wait

I was a few beers in when I posted last night and on re reading it is indeed a bit harsh so apologies to Vulcant! Having said that its a tough mkt right now so happy to hold onto mine if I cant get a good bid...road trip to Germany next month so will have some autobahn fun!Anyhow, I bought mine on 2k, now it is on nearly 6k after 4 months, will get another 1k this year then likely two more European road trips next along with the obligatory smile-inducing Sunday morning hoons which are not high mileage. Come on guys, let’s put this thread to bed now and enjoy our cars, I can’t believe we have 9 pages of depressing comments.
I’m no CEO of a large corporate company or self employed and able to write off my depreciation, I am just an ordinary guy who had a childhood dream to own an Aston one day.
I realised that dream last year and am enjoying Aston ownership regardless of depreciation.

Alternatively we keep it open for when the values go up ;-). I’m no CEO of a large corporate company or self employed and able to write off my depreciation, I am just an ordinary guy who had a childhood dream to own an Aston one day.

My situation is the same, no CEO, no private company to wear the cost. Earn it, pay 45% tax on it then buy the car.
Not all the comments are depressing however.
@KevinB I would agree the DBS looks nicer, but it is comparing two supermodels; after 4k miles I am now used to the 7-speed dogleg and keep putting my other manual cars in 2nd to start instead of 1st now!

I.m sure VULCANT did not pay list for his car and i,m sure it is up for reasonable money now.

I think Vulcant is the second owner so probably owner 1 shared in the majority of the depreciation suffered. If memory serves there was a thread on here when he was considering a GT8 or a V12V and found this very special car. Really sad for him that circumstances mean that he needs to sell in such a difficult market. Let’s hope that it finds a good home.It is a beautiful looking V12V with a unique spec!
Admittedly not V12V but it might help ease the depreciation pain....
Was in AM Notts at the weekend and they had a 'New' Vantage, registered, 41 miles on the clock, Timeless...up for £118,500 I happened to see this same car in the same dealers a few months ago when it was a 'new' stock car, the list price was £155,895 obviously the chances of someone having paid list is very slim but £912/mile is going to sting.
And equally as terrifying, a local dealer has a 2017 Macca 720S, list price was £282k, it's done 5,300 miles, price now....£158k

£158k, that really is disasterous. I went on a 2k euro trip earlier this year with a chap who was in a new 720s. We took the piss out of him about the depreciation (and other things) between tolls in france but that is something else. I have noticed nearly every v12vs manual has disappeared from sale on AT, I presume this is due to the time of year as I still have an unhealthy need to buy one at some point when the wife is distracted.

After 2,000+ miles across Europe, when I was 10 minutes from home a muddy lorry decided to drop a massive lump of clay right in front of me, it hit the front of the car and I feared the worst. However when I got home whilst the PPF is destroyed on the bumper and wing, the paint is fine!
She will now visit Works for a re-PPF.

I now have 2 more kids (twins!) so now 3 kids all under 3 years old. I’m also undertaking a massive home renovation project. It’s a super deal for someone wanting a very special car. Feel free to drop me a message if anyone here would like some more info.
There is a 3D photo tool here to look around the car. It was a little bright in the day so the colour doesn’t really look true to life. It’s actually very dark, sometimes looks closer to black with a purple hue. https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=5n3Q3h1ticD
