Looks like the Red/Purple Q V12VS is up for sale again.

I’m sure I saw it on Collecting Cars earlier this week. Guess it failed to hit its reserve.

I think the owner sometimes posts on here. Fingers crossed for you.

Think there was a Zagato Speedster on there too which had the same outcome.

I guess it’s a tricky time right now.

Best Regards

The matt purple one is "loaded" but it's also very much a car of personal taste. I don't dislike it, as I'm seeking a car with some colour inside and out, but just not for me. Nor many others, unfortunately for the owner as it's becoming apparent.

I hope it manages to find a new owner soon. Everything will find a home at the right price and moment in time.

When I bought mine a year and a half ago for £125k (not a Q spec but similar spec and mileage) this was for sale at a far higher number.

Now I think it represents good value and honestly had it been for sale at this price 18 months ago I probably would have had it.

I am sure someone who likes purple will snap it up soon, these cars have a sense of theatre and engagement that is relatively unmatched.

I think the top bid was around £112K - say £118k with commission.
Up again for sale at £130k - stunning car but maybe priced a bit optimistically ????

Didn’t realise it had been reduced by quite a bit. Previously, I found it high, but at this level it’s on the money, I reckon.

It’s a bit of a unicorn having CF lightweight seats, B&O stereo, AMR alloys, CF internal door panels, unique colour scheme in and out, plus Performance Pack including titanium exhaust. I don’t think you can reasonably spec higher!

Pity it’s a manual. Which just goes to prove you can’t please everyone wink

Almost worth considering dislocating my shoulder again to drive a manual...

I like it a lot. IIRC, it was ordered new in Texas, an oil businessman.

I think the top bid this week was £113k

I, unfortunately, upset the owner this week on Facebook when I suggested that if someone offered him £115k He should take it. He had previously stated that the reserve was £125k.

The purple car is very highly specced. It has the lightweight seats, the Bose sound system and the power upgrade with titanium exhaust, all three are desirable options. It also has a lot of other options, including carbon fibre.

Sadly come resale time most options depreciate heavily. The more highly specced the car the more those options will depreciate because the car will seem more expensive than other lesser specced cars for sale.

Then we come to the colour.

A lot of people have complimented the colour.

They don’t drive purple Astons though, do they?

The colour is a welcome change from black, grey or silver but the truth is so many Astons are these colours because that’s what the buyers want.

Satin purple is striking but most people looking for a manual V12s will not want a purple one.

So for this V12s to sell at the price the owner wants he needs a buyer to fall in love with the colour and value the other options at the same level as himself.

This buyer may well be out there and buys the car at a price the seller is happy with but this car has been for sale for about a year so the market has so far judged that the car is priced too high.

I think the other problem is that a lot of people, when buying a car, already have one eye on re-sale values.
A car which has been up for sale for over a year on many many platforms and still not sold may be difficult to move on further down the re-sale line.

I do feel for the current owner a bit though, a combination of a unique spec, Brexit and Covid...........you couldn't make this stuff up.

No doubt he bought with his heart which is a great thing to do, but the reality of that must now be biting a bit.

I suspect if the big shows had happened properly this year (Salon Prive was a let down) then they may have been the sort of place to try and move it.

If they could afford to keep it then that's what I'd do, put it away (or use it) for a year or so and then bring back to market when the war is over, but if not then I would get it into Works on a SoR basis if it were me. It's a unique car that would "probably" sit in their showroom......and they get a lot of wealthy footfall, and perhaps not the type of people like us who trawl AT, so don't know it even exists.

Agreed. I understand the 1st owner is a wealthy oil man. When you spec a car as unique as that you do it with the intention of owning it for many years. This car is three years old and now looking for its third owner. The problem the second owner is having is finding the third person in the UK that loves the unique specification as much as the first two and with the finances to buy it.

Right hand drive though.
Maybe it was his UK runabout.

New cost shown in the advert, about £240,000.
2 or 3 years old; 3,000 miles.
Recent bids of £112,000 and £113,000.

Called a 1 of 1, but hope the original plan was not flipping.

The spec gives it a very narrow audience.
It could have been awesome, i wish the seller well though and hope a buyer comes along soon.

Actually, I like it and would buy that if we lived in normal times - I am probably the one person on here who doesn't like the lightweight cf seats - so would have to change those out on it though.

It also looks like he is chasing the market down. Not a great time to be selling and perhaps he needs to give it a break from the market. Whilst he says he isn’t desperate to sell it looks like he is. It is a stunning car but the market for those who would buy such a unique spec, and have the money to do so, is pretty small (:

Personally i think this is one of the best V12V out there it really is unique i think what has happened is that the owner is always just behind the cure on price as it always seems a little expensive compared to other cars albeit with nowhere near the spec of this one.
I also feel (this is a first ) that it achieved low bids on cc, imo it is worth £125k for sure.
An 18 AMR car is at £140k.

I think the main problem could be the interior. Everyone always mentions how they like the exterior colour, but the interior is a bit too whacky imho. It will sell at the right price, but the audience is likely to be limited. If it was mine I would be tempted to have a chat with Nicholas Mee, as they have a couple for sale at the moment.

Good luck to the owner

If I were him I would have a chat with Aston Works, they have access to a broader range of clientele and would likely move this along for him. Given who they are they can also command a better price for things.

All the points made on here about it being for sale for so long will absolutely impact any potential buyers and I would guess the Venn diagram of PistonHeads forum browsers and collecting cars bidders shows quite a lot of intersection. But even taking it off for 6-months won't really help given the unicorn spec of the thing and rather marmite colour.

It is just sad that in the meantime this thing has only done 3,000 miles. Eye-watering cost/mile I guess but these cars fortunately are also about just looking at!

I think this will end up shifting quickly for £110k-£115k or taking 6-months more or so to find a loving home at £120-£125k.
