Thanks, yes this is the only one in a non standard colour I have come across. Went for it because I did not want the body stripes and this fitted the bill, seems from comments here I made a good decision and the more I look at it the more I like it.

I miss my Rapide S. Saw an AMR in Grange a year ago and it looked magnificent. Would have one again in a heartbeat great cars!

Have decided to place my V12V on the market.

Not a distress sale, so no rush to move it on - will be a good test of the V12V market, albeit for a slightly modified example (BR manifolds and cats)

Where is it for sale? I am currently looking for either a V12V or Gen 2 Vanquish. Haven't seen a new advert pop up on either AutoTrader or PH.

Toying with getting a Gen 2 Vanquish post MY14 (so 15 on) for the 8 speed ZF. There does seem to be a bit of a jump in price for these over the pre 15 6 speeds.

Question I have: is the 6 speed box in cars up to and including MY14 good enough? I know the 8 speed pushes the 0 to 60 down by about 0.5 second and top speed to a tickle over 200mph, but given that 0-60 difference is indistinguishable in the real world and 200mph is unachievable anywhere, do I need the 8 speed..or to put it another way, should I get it over a 6 speed because it is fundamentally better?

My wife has 16 DB9 GT and that has the 6 speed, which I have never found to be an issue, hence why I am not sure. My Merc has a 9 speed, which seems a bit silly really. (Appreciate the reasons why related to emissions and fuel economy etc, neither of which bother me really)

I’m not really bothered about the 8 speed or 6 speed I’ll drive it using the paddles every time. I’m more bothered about the spec, as I’m struggling to find one at the correct mileage and colour scheme i want. Awesome problem to have though eh?

Yes, indeed. I should add that I usually always drive on the paddles in the DB9, so will do the same on the Vanquish.

Could be a good time to sell. The McGurk car has gone leaving only 2 original coupe on Autotrader. One with 38k miles and one very bright orange car. Be interesting to see what a fresh car on the market does

I try to avoid the puddles as then I have to clean the car, but each to their own.

I had a 6 speed DBS and then moved onto an 8 speed Vanquish. I always drive on the paddles.
I do occasionally think it has too many ratios. In the DBS, dropping two gears was always right to go from cruise to sprint. It takes three in the 8 speed.

If you hold the paddle down, does it not drop to the lowest gear?

Yes it does. But it gets a bit shouty.

I think on balance the 8 is preferable but its no deal breaker (having had both) - always on the paddles too. It just feels tighter and quicker (and sometimes a bit harsher) and that 8th is a great GT cruising gear - over 30 mpg to Scotland ticking over at 75. You sense torque converter slip much less - err well I don't think I actually have in the 8- and that is always a better more immediate connection. The flipside is you do tend to change gears more which is a bit off for gigantic torquey engine! My solution has been really to quite often treat is as a 6 speeder as 7 and 8 are quite lofty! Some irony!

They definitely seem to be on the rise at the moment. When I was looking for mine there were some examples selling for close to £50k. Now the cheapest on AT is £63k with 38k miles.

Cars with circa 20k miles are being advertised at £75k+ from a franchised dealer. Mine was around 20k miles and was advertised at just a smidgen under £70k.

Not sure if this is because supply seems to be very restricted. There are not many v12s on the market right now, sure that will change as spring moves to summer.

Edit: these are all based on manual cars as this is how my searches are configured.
