On a Vantage S, when you start the car the N dash button flashes (at last I think it’s the N button. st I need to drive my car more often). This is the car doing a clutch learn. You should wait until the light stops flashing before driving. It might be slightly different in the earlier models.

Same here '09 4.7 SS. Just keep foot on brake whilst you put seat belt on/adjust seat, there will be an accompanying 'click' at the rear and good to go as it's all the time it takes. Not difficult and good practice.

SS1, early cars is different to SS2 on later cars, S model onwards. From the FAQ, full clutch learn is:-

Sportshift 1 (ASM1) Whilst generally good and liked by owners with it they do need a clutch learn occasionally to get the best / smoothest gear change
From cold and with the air conditioning turned off, foot on brake and start car, hold brake for 10 secs or so until you hear the clutch 'click'. Switch off and then repeat the process 3 or 4 times. The immediate difference is how much smoother it became at slow speeds, for instance manoeuvring in tight spaces in now a lot easier than when it would lurch forward before.
