So what have you done with your Aston today? (Vol. 2)

I note from your Profile, My Garage, you mention 'THAT noise'.
Have you had any exhaust 'improvements' done? I see that your Vantage must be a fairly early 4.7.
I wish….. it’s a ‘56 reg 4.3 with no exhaust mods at all (other than a CCCharger device for fuse 22). The noise is already glorious so I can only imagine what it would be like with a cat delete.Have you had any exhaust 'improvements' done? I see that your Vantage must be a fairly early 4.7.
I have a feeling that it will need a clutch in the next couple of years, so my modification budget is zero until I’ve got to grips with the essentials.

Also beautiful. My garage build with hopefully kick-off with gusto in the New Year, once I can find an architect who can provide a reasonable quote (first one was ~£8k for a two car standalone garage in my garden who does he think he is, a solicitor?!)!
Make sure you add extra space on - you'll always need it. I have a 2 car garage and always wish I had a couple of extra feet either side. The extra cost in materials is minimal in the scheme of things and very little extra labour.Nigel_O said:

Your picture is fantastic, looks straight out of a videogame.I have a feeling that it will need a clutch in the next couple of years, so my modification budget is zero until I’ve got to grips with the essentials.
A super cheap and easy mod you can do, is to get a shorter antenna, takes off a couple years.

I agree with this 100%. When I built my attached 2-car garage (pre Aston days) I made it longer and wider than the "standard" as I had the land to the side and I actually wanted to garage the two cars and still be able to move around. Now, having filled the perimeter with tools, bikes, recycling boxes, logs for the wood-burner, Aston cleaning equipment, etc, etc I wish I had reduced the side path even further and added an extra couple of feet (600 mm). Ideally, for a two-car fleet you need a three-car garage (then you can add a 2-post lift, etc) Nigel_O said:
My other mid-life crisis car is a Westfield, which I really enjoy hooning around in during the warm, dry months. Some of the hardier Westfield club owners use their cars all year round, while the sensible ones put them away while the roads are greasy.
Yesterday, there was a quick meeting in the Peak District, with two Westies and three club members in their "ordinary" cars (a 911 C4S Targa and a Boxster S, plus me in the V8V). We went for an entertaining drive through some lovely scenery. Or at least the scenery would have been nice if it wasn't obscured by thick fog. After a nice lunch in a country pub, we went our separate ways and I gambled on the long route home taking in the Cat & Fiddle pass.
It was looking like a poor choice as I crawled out of Buxton in yet more thick fog, but as I got near the summit I popped out of the mist and fog to a glorious sunny day. I only had my phone with me, but it was still worth a photo. What looks like the sea in the distance is actualy the thick fog that blanketed most of the country on Sunday.

The Westfield is a great tool . We( a mate and I ) built 2 in 1990 . Drove to Le Mans and then would drive them to the Westfield race events , race and drive them home . I sold mine after 15 years but still hanker after buying it back off the mate I sold it too who still has it . Aluminum and enamel. Very nice quality! Thanks for the welcome! I love it here already ahah
Cheers, looking very good!Since you look like a detail-oriented owner by switching to black badges, I might risk it suggesting what follows, sorry for maybe adding some new unplanned (and not very cheap) mods to your car: I think the black bezel headlights from other V12 models would fit very well; I did it on mine because of the common headlight LED failure and they look beautiful with my spec, removing some silver were there was no other.

I have been invited by AM Milano to a glamorous soirée, organised around an artist who created a series of paintings inspired by Bond girls. The models were there, an open bar with Bollinger and Vesper Martinis, a wonderful DB5 in green with 90s Torino plates ending in 007 (you cannot have personalised plates in Italy, you really need to grease the administration to get the numbers you want).
Anyway, sorry for the not top-notch quality of my pictures, but yeah, as said I was distracted by the open bar and mingling with the models.
