In the process of selling my car so spent some time titivating it. Since putting it on PH I managed to get one interested party - a scam email asking for payment to relist my advert for free. Eh? confused

It seems my advert is attracting the wrong sort of wannabe buyer and its one timewaster after another. One local just turned up on foot and wanted to take the car for a test drive - turns out no licence or insurance.

I’ve just dropped mine off at Vantage Engineering for its service.

Not used them before, but so many good reviews and less than an hour from home.
Did have to wait two months for a slot, they are that busy.

Much Aston loveliness with cars from all eras in the workshop and car park.
What's your verdict on VE Dave?

It’s an impressive set up with some lovely cars being serviced and restored.
Staff that I spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable.
I don’t think mine has been looked at yet though.
I took it down on Monday knowing that it would be looked at some time this week.

Because my car hasn’t been to them before they explained that they wouldn’t just crack on with a service but they’ll road test it, then give it a pre service inspection and work out exactly what does and doesn’t need doing.
This suits me down to the ground because although my car has the service book stamped up for each of its yearly services, I have very few of the actual service invoices, so I can’t say for certain when gearbox oil, coolant , brake fluid etc was changed.

They gave me reassurance that once they’d given it a once over, they’d call and we could discuss what, if anything over and above a service is required.
I’m happy for them to have it a week or two for this level of service as opposed to in and out in a day, but without the attention to detail Vantage Engineering are offering.

Collected mine from it's service at AM Nottingham. Usually use a local specialist but they were too busy.

Good service from AM Notts but pricey!

Went away for the weekend, first decent drive after loads of upgrades, the car drive and handled beautifully, better turn in, the rear felt more controlled, the car corned far flatter and less scuttle shake and creaks - just far more cohesive.
A few links below if anyone is interested in what was done.

DBS/DB9.2 Shear plates front and rear

DBS Anti roll bars front and rear, DB9 volantes didn't have a rear anti roll bar at all (poly bushed and lower front wishbone poly bushed as well)

Took mine for her first proper trip out for a while, down to Devon. Of course it rained a bit, always does on my trips ! Good fun in the lanes though once a bright spot appeared…

Saturday 14th May....1st shakedown run out in the V12V from home (South Cumbria) over for a swift beer in the sunshine at the Plough Inn at Lupton ... no issues ...fired up 1st time since End of October.
Just brings a smile to my face every time I drive it even after nearly 4 years of ownership

personally in the last month (not today, sorry)

Personally I have:

Been hugely annoyed by the perpetually flat battery (needs the tracker coding out)
Fitted a modified gt4 twin plate clutch and flywheel
Fitted a V12 back box
Fitted and subsequently modified Gt4 Brakes
Fitted proper bucket seats and made them electrically adjustable
Fitted some transit connect indicators
replaced all of the knackered spire clips on the exhaust
replaced most of the exhaust clamps
been hit in the face by the left hand exhaust catalyst
Serviced the engine and gearbox

still to do:
code out that fking stupid piece of st tracker
Intercept the PWN line toy the exhaust flap vacuum pump so i can control it properly
Remove the EGR system
i would like to have the car mapped to improve the throttle response
re bleed all the brakes and clutch
replace the dampers with the 4 ways that have been sitting in a box for too long
Replace wheels and tyres

Longer term to do:

Half rear cage
harness ( I want to wear my hans when i track it)
Replace all bushes and recondition the rear beam.

That bird is sat there saying "fk you"
Love it
Mind you bird crap is generally OK with paint work etc if not left too long but seagull crap can be in a whole new league of nastiness and etched in clearcoat.

I finally found a way through the firewall from the cabin to the engine compartment in my '06 left-hand drive DB9 Volante (so I can install a front parking camera). It was a worse job than changing my coil packs!
The grommet is several inches further in than the end of the scope I'm pointing at it (this is above the cabin fusebox in the right-hand front footwell).
For more details and lots of photos, see my post on 6SpeedOnline "I Made It Through the Firewall!"

congrats, what Viper sort is it, the more early or those with 640ps newer ones like from 2013 onwards with a manual, those could be fun?

wonder what you think of the Viper coming from that Aston DB7 :-)

Ah, no not THAT Viper. This Viper is the engine from the RAF's old training jet, the Jet Provost. wink
