Thanks Cayman, I put my name down for a V12 - as it turned out I couldn't have afforded one even if it was allocated, so the F1 was the next best thing. And it is great. Its an awesome car to drive, very very quick and capable on twisty, even rough roads, way quicker than the V12, but its too quiet - need to do something about that - as you don't get the sense of speed that the V8 & V12 give you.

Sounds like AM are fitting OPF pipes to cars in all markets now. Perhaps you could install some OPF-delete pipes as seen here: https://youtu.be/098gmdbwseM?t=76

Not sure if the stock OPF pipes are connected to any sensors for the Australian sold cars (I know Porsche have these for certain markets).

That whole exhaust system actually sounds terrific.

Nothing Rob Bliss at Geebung/ Virginia wouldn't be able to fix. He did a good job freeing up the exhaust on my DB9 and at half the price of others.

Swapped out the side "gills" on my Vantage. Took about 30 mins. I got them from Exotic Auto Parts. Customer service was great. 5 days from order to my door in AZ. Genuine Aston parts and they were much cheaper than my local dealer. Mirror caps are next.

It could be the angle of the photograph however, the swage line on the carbon part doesn't appear lined up with the swage line on the door. Looks very nice though.

If you enlarge the photo it becomes very clear that it is light reflection on the carbon giving you the impression of a poor fit.

On every one of these cars I have seen the side gills top line (and to some extent the middle) does not meet the door crease correctly.

I still don't see it lining up and tend to go with M1AGM comment below.

Went for a drive and ended up in Matlock Bath.

Saw 2 other AMs, a dark original Vanquish? Might have been a DB9 but ony just noiced it is it went past so not sure. And a very unusual coloured DB11 Volante (I think) a sort of bright minty green.

I'm not very good with my AM models wobble

We drove over from France yesterday. This morning we left the Vanquish with the guys in Macclesfield for a service and the fitting of the Carplay system. I'll let you know my thoughts on the Carplay once I've sussed it out. It's got to be better than the original Nav' that's for sure.

A wallaby decided to commit suicide via Aston today. It made a hell of a loud thud. I was thinking oh sh!t this is going to be $10k and 6 weeks apart. I pulled over and there was no damage at all. Any possible paint damage was subverted by the PPF. Just some wipeable wallaby juice. I do feel sorry for the wallaby though. They do tend to make strange decisions when crossing the road in broad daylight though.

Glad that you enjoyed taking part Matt.
Expect you are pleased with 13:06 and 111mph.

I competed there many moons ago. It was 1 kilometre and two cars at once then !

A pity that Jim Tiller had trouble this time. The report that I read, seemed to suggest mechanical failure, but we know that journalists might not be accurate. I don't know whether the wheel off was before, or after impact. Pleased he was unhurt though, because there is some very solid street furniture along the course. You will know that he won FTD at Brighton more than once in his Allard. A very entertaining competitor and I remember him in (presumably) that same monster machine decades ago. To still race in one's 80s, well that is keen.
