Wood Wraped My Vantage Roadster Dashboard
Discussion
Hello everyone and I am excited to join the Aston Martin owners' club
I bought my 4.3 Vantage Roadster four months ago and it still gives me the fizz every time I go near it let alone drive it in mountain roads.
I am generally happy with the specs, Toro red with cream hood and interior. The only thing I didn't really like was the grey plastic dashboard which looks out of AM context IMO.
I have decided to do something about it that doesn't require buying a wooden replacement which is really expensive.
I have watched many videos on youtube showing how to remove the upper part of the dashboard where the start engine button lies. I did just that although reluctantly at first but was really a doodle was the right plastic tool.
I then bought one meter of wood wrap/decal on ebay for 4.75 UK pounds. I also bought a can of E-Tech lacquer originally for restoring headlights to finish off the wrap and make it look like real wood which costs about 6 pounds.
I am not very good with scissors but luckily right where I live there are many car accessories shops where you can find someone doing a good job for little money. I think I paid around 12 pounds for half an hour job and he did reasonably well.
Two coats of clear coat and that's it.
I still don't understand why aren't there any ready cut wraps for Aston Martins. This might be a good business opportunity for someone like Richard from redpants
