Great write up. Just decided to bite the bullet and get my rear subframe sorted. Currently on axel stands with under trays and arch liners removed, rear tail lights and rear bumper removed, back box and centre pipes removed and anti toll bar removed. I have plus gassed all nuts and bolts and am going to tackle removing the brakes and suspension components shortly so the subframe is ready to remove.

I was just going to get the subframe galvanised and powder coated but noticed you have vapour blasted the suspension arms etc and had the bolts zinc plated. Did you remove all bushes etc prior to vapour blasting? And any suggestions on someone in the Kent area that can undertake the vapour blasting and zinc plating of all the nuts and bolts?

Thanks for your advice.

My 2006 Vantage was recently at DAE for some work and they gave me a tour of the underside of my Vantage. It looks like my rear sub frame and other parts (oil cooler pipes, AV mounts, hand brake cable, wheel bearings) need sorting before its too late and rust beyond being salvageable.

I might get it done by DAE over winter or after reading some of the replies, might give it a go myself. If all else fails, put it back together and let DAE do the job.

It doesn't look too bad if you take it in easy bite sized chunks.

If I do it myself I can then treat the Vantage to some other goodies, maybe Nitrons and/or big brake upgrade (Currently work in progress).

I finished mine a few weeks back. Wasn’t too bad, just always allow for replacing additional bits you weren’t originally bargaining for. Nuts, bolts, fixings, handbrake cable, exhaust mounts etc etc.
