V8V wheel bearings
Discussion
As my rear knuckle and hub assembly are all stripped off, I’m contemplating changing the wheel bearings. They’ve done 30,000 miles so should be fine, but whilst I’m in there....
In my never ending quest to find which parts bin parts AML used on their cars, I’m wondering if anyone has sourced the original bearing/hub assembly?
Volvo V70 crops up on a Google search, but nothing definitive and at a 1/3rd the price of the AML bit it would be a good find if they are actually the same kit.

Try and find a Volvo dealer thats still open and take your removed one to check for size in a comparison.
However, unless you really feel the need to replace it, that is a substantial bearing, not known to being prone to noise and failure, so I would refit it unless you feel you needed to overly stress it, like clobber the crap out of it, to remove it.

Can’t find anything online as a comparison, but have found Borg & Beck Firstline bearings FBK1329 for £180. That’s the complete hub and bearing unit with bolts and not a bad price.
Not ordered yet and will do some more digging, but interesting that pretty much all Vantages and DB9s seem to use the same bearing front and rear.

I think the bearing assembly is Ford, probably a Ranger. I have replaced 3 of mine as they were worn.
I think you could get a bearing and squeeze one in to the hub assembly but once you have the bearing assembly out of the upright mine were in no fit state to be re-used. The steel (bearing) to aluminium (upright) corrosion is really bad and sticks the assembly in there so tight you need to get them in a bench press. The worse was my near side front which needed 3 days in a 20 tonne press plus very careful use of heat (you can distort the aluminium) - resulted in a very big bang....

Lucky thing!
One top tip I had from my local garage , who do have the same corrosion problems in Ford Transits etc, is to clean the adjoining surfaces then give the upright surface a quick coat of lacquer. Creates a fine barrier. Once dry cover with aluminium grease. Might not be you who appreciates next time round but someone will....

DB9 owner here.
replaced both my rear bearings last week at 65k miles.
took my trusted mechanic 3hrs to do both.
the NSR bearing had almost collapsed.
lots of owners have noticed premature failure.
the replacement comes as a complete hub.
i bought an OEM and also a BORG unit as the Borg brand have also had positive reviews( they make lots of other car parts such as clutches) . both units were bought at a large reduction.
the car now drives as it should.
i too looked at FORD and Volvo compatibility but could not find any info on it.
on removal of the old units my mechanic said they looked like mondeo hubs. i have asked him to hold on to the old ones so when life gets back to normal i can hopefully inform the forum of part compatibility.
