The FAQ thread shows that an alternative thermostat is from a Jag - part number AJ811788

Does this fit the 4.7 litre engine as well as the 4.3 litre?

Thanks

Looks like I am going to need a new aircon condenser, a fact which outwitted the dealer but which I managed to confirm within 30 seconds using good old Eyesight Mk 1 and a £3 UV torch.

I've googled and found a few suppliers listing it at around the £350-£400 mark, just wondered whether anyone recommended any supplier over another?

According to Scuderia it’s the same for any V8 Vantage https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/191271/aston...

I don't think 4.3s ever had Bilsteins, did they?

I bought genuine Brembo discs from Autodoc for my 2005 DB9, delivered in couple of days, for around £272 the set delivered. Front and rear pads (Pagid RS422) from Euro Car Parts were £237 and the wear sensors for around £25 each (cheaper on eBay as posted earlier in this). Handbrake pads were around £15 I think for TRW ones listed for an S type Jag

Windscreen washer jets are VW Golf/Jetta etc!!

I bought a brand new tyre weld bottle from AM Leeds and it came in a bag with FoMoCo on it!

All V8 Vantage but should work on DB9..

Alarm unit and sounder (rear wheel arch) = JLR discovery/free lander/x-type (battery back up fails after 7ish years) Good 2nd hand ones £20 ebay.

Door lock unit (the bit that grabs the staple bolted to the door). micro switch fails causing alarm to fail to register door closed so window doesn't fully close and door will refuse to lock on fob. Land rover/range rover. Pattern part on ebay £25.

Front pads = Range Rover 5.0 supercharged front pads (different wear sensor cut out). Aftermarket good brand £40 a set (softer compound. No discernible difference for road application but eliminates squeal and less disc scoring)

Rear pads = Ford Focus RS mk 1 FRONT pads. Same as above.

Handbrake pads Jaguar S type and others.

Oh and the infamous swollen wheel nuts - Buy a 23mm impact wrench socket and carry in the car. £4 Job permanently sorted. Old ones only swell so much/new ones will swell again over time.

Guys - any sources for Rapide disks - seeing over £1000 for two but two OE Brembo ones for a DB9 are £106! DB9's are smaller so wont fit - any ideas for a Brembo supplier? The difference in cost is ginormous!

Hi

I looked into this for my late V8 Vantage which post 2012.25 has the front same disc diameter and pads, centre hat differs on the Rapide due to different stud PCD, and I could not find any alternatives

One option that might be worth exploring is to just replace the actual disc itself, as it is likely this size disc will also be used elsewhere, and keeping your existing hats with new bolts etc?

I read somewhere that the NISSAN GTR uses the same size disc but this needs to be confirmed

The Brembo website and catalogue to be of very little use

So I replaced the Phillips D1s ballast on one headlight today with an aftermarket type from ebay.

The unit itself is identical and comes with new wiring which is longer than the original. For anyone that has tried to replace a bulb, that is very welcome as it pretty difficult to do.

£36 from ebay and its identical to a mk2 Ford Focus ballast.

Ebay number is 382871210157

Hope it helps someone

Thanks
