Which when factoring in postage is no cheaper than the Astonbits ones. No-one has answered the question as to whether the aftermarket ball joints are standard parts bin or specially designed and manufactured.http://tencar.com.pl/SAMOCHODY/Aston%20Martin/Asto...
If they’re available for £10 each and being knocked out at 8 times the price, that’s a pretty steep markup for a bit of knowledge.
Again, this thread is about helping to make our 16+ yr old VH and other Astons a joy to own, not a headache when it comes to simple maintenance parts.

Handbrake shoes for a DB7. I've just replaced them on my X5 and thought they looked very similar so did some searching.
Aston prices as shown at Aston Martin Bits - all the prices are in the link - are off the scale. A repair kit plus a set of brake shoes is £489.40. Then you will need to order 2 sets of tension springs which will be just £169.66 (FFS) so a grand total of £659.06 plus p&p
https://www.astonmartinbits.com/search?search=hand...
Brake shoes are Jaguar XJS and are Mintex - Part No.- JLM2209 - £20.50
https://www.britishparts.co.uk/classic-jaguar-c470...
Hold down kit Jaguar XJS - Part No. - BPC125 - £8.99
https://www.britishparts.co.uk/jaguar-parts-c11/ja...
However, do NOT be tempted to buy the Parking Brake Repair Kit - JLM2250G - listed at British Parts as it costs a whopping £195.05. Use the parts listed below.
Brake shoe parking lever - BMW genuine part - £36.80 each (2 req'd)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/BMW-Genuine-Replacement-E...
Adjuster block assembly - BMW genuine part - £6.72 each (2 req'd)

So, if you are replacing the handbrake shoes with all the springs and fittings you will save £542.53.

NGK spark plugs - NGK IFR7N10 (stock number 97105) - are £4.38 each inc vat from the Green Spark Plug Company (5 stars on Trustpilot). A huge saving when you need 8.

Has anyone bought these? Can anyone confirm whether gsparkplug.com is a realiable seller?https://www.gsparkplug.com/ngk-ifr7n10-97105-spark...

When I have had any concerns about NGK plugs I have always found their technical department very helpful. They even took part in a discussion on here to resolve some issues.
That's good to know, this gives me peace of mind. Could you please lead me to that thread where the technical department from gsparkplug helped out?
DB7 secondary air injection pump. Aston part number 07-83252 costs £225.05 +vat+p&p from Scuderia.
Jaguar part number LHE 1545AD (fits XJ6 and many others) available second hand units from Auto Reserve Jaguar at £30.59 +vat and free 3 day postage.
https://www.autoreservejaguar.com/xj6-xjr-xjs-1992...
These pumps usually fail due to lack of use and the impeller becomes stuck. It is fitted behind the front bumper beside the left hand spotlight so remove the undertray to access. If you are handy with a couple of tools these are very easily fixed at no cost. Simply dismantle, clean out the crud, free off the impeller, lubricate with grease, reassemble and all good to go.

Looks like my power steering pump is failing (whines a lot and the volume increases with revs with clutch depressed or when in motion)
I hoped it was the idler pully but i think its the power steering pump.
Is there an alternative part number for that? (Jag etc?) Or is the 4.3 V8 Vantge an OEM Aston part only? (I had a search thru this thread, couldnt find the part mentioned)
Ta!
(There seem to be some alteratives . . . but ive never heard of the make before): https://www.euspares.co.uk/parts-catalog/power-ste...
Aston part number: 6G33-3A696-AC / AD
Ouch! https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/191331/aston...

It might be cheaper to have yours reconditioned. Lots of companies can do this, a Google search will find one near you.
A quick search and looks to be the same as a Volvo one as found on V70 Mk3, S60 Mk2 etc (8G91-3A696-AB) except for the return pipe outlet which is at a different angle. No idea if you can just swap it over or not.

You can compare with the real thing.

Second hand one in Germany.
