I've used one for 2 years on a RR, I can report it is terrible and dangerous. The the system on my mini cooper is superior in every regard.
Slightly off topic, Francois, but are you a descendent of Jean-Baptiste ?

If you have the money for that setup you would buy a holiday home and drive there in your Aston Martin sports car.
Well that just isn’t true! An awful lot of people (myself included) don’t want to just go and visit the same place time and time again. Some want the freedom to go and explore! (we do ours camping and will be wild camping when the kids are a little older).

Well I’m ordering one on Thursday, no matter what version/ make/ screen/ touch or not the DBX has... I’m not really interested in the nav. I got everywhere with maps without an issue 16 years ago or more .

Buy the car..... not the nav!

Quite right.

I think most of the objections on here, have been about the screen appearance and position not being an integral part of the dashboard, but seemingly 'stuck on' as an afterthought.

That aspect is solved now, because the DBX has a magnificent and sumptuous interior, with a screen properly housed within the dashboard.

Enjoy the ordering process and to help the Company, don't forget Simon, to treat yourself to many options. - wink

I really don’t like it! The top of the dashboard looks like bags under the eyes of a rather haggard and dehydrated older person or even pendulous jowls. It looks like a cross between a Maserati and conti GT from 15 years ago and recent MB sticking with that centre control that stands out like a sore thumb from the rest of the lower console.

Edited to add - I knew it reminded me of a couple of characters from films......tell me I’m wrong....

I hope to add a fair few options and Q colour paint and hide, but it will come down to how sharp the DP is (Mister B) with his pencil at Wilmslow wink

My dealer emailed yesterday to say they have a static mode for viewing and they were just setting up a car for test drives. I am booked in to drive it next Tuesday. Exciting ! Will post what I think once we have been out.

I just got home from a test drive in DBX. I'm not 100% sure whether the embargo applies to riff raff like me, but to be on the safe side, I may post some thoughts first thing Monday.

As a late commer AML should have put a hybrid power plant in the thing and it would have had a chance to sell. Now it’s just another big, expensive SUV.
Perhaps, but currently the Urus isn't available as a hybrid (one is due in the near future), and the Bentayga hybrid arrived 3 years after the model was first launched. Bentley's sold around 20,000 so far, the bulk of which were pre-hybrid W12. In all honesty, I'm not sure buyers of the highest tier SUV's have as strong a demand for hybrid tech as those in the sub £100k segment.

Later iterations of DBX will no doubt feature electrification, but for now, it was important to just get the car to market, and they've done that very quickly all things considered.
Just watched Harry’s Garage on the new X5 6 cylinder hybrid. The BMW is ugly but that tech in the DBX would have set it apart and made it a big seller. I think public sentiment is changing very quickly these days, in particular those who have the means to spend £ 200k on an SUV. It’s all about image in this category as nobody needs 600 PS for their school run and hybrid is “in”

Embargo is lifted next week. It's usually on a Wednesday to coincide with the publication of Autocar.

We’ll test drive done last Thursday ( and Vantage Roadster the week before)

My lips are sealed by a gagging clause but both cars build specification done , both in different greens ( nothing gauche!!!!)

So there we go.... happy client here!

I followed one up the Hartside Pass in Cumbria today in my V12 Vantage S and it was very impressive.

Nipped into my friendly dealer for a look. First thing it’s a lot bigger than you might think, that really took me back. Proper “presence” if that’s what you are after, felt a good deal bigger than my XC90, more akin to RR size. The sizes makes the styling quite arresting in the metal. The rear spoiler is nearer the eye-line than I had expected it to be. It will dwarf a Rapide (for instance). Also was odd seeing an Aston shod in 22 inch all season proper tyres!

I don’t think they have messed about here, seems remarkable given their heritage. I would put good money on the road tests confirmIng the same.

The interior also looks exquisite, some super detailing and felt more akin to Rapide, little design flourishes here and there. ( the piped detail is just lovely). I hope it’s not too late as I really think it should sell very well indeed.

A dark blue for me (wife and kids) please! If the numbers come up I’m first in line.

Thanks for that, didn't realise this from the pics. Checked it out, and yes it is.

This shows it: https://twitter.com/i/status/1291748081063677953

DBX: 5,039 mm L x 1,998 mm W x 1,680 mm H
XC90: 4,953 mm L x 1,923 mm W x 1,776 mm H

That's just bonkers, considering one is a 7 seater. But guess they need to justfify the price...

I have seen two of these this weekend; one at Cambridge and one at Hatfield. Quite a few people looking outside at them - I didn’t hear a single positive comment. I thought it looked better in the flesh than in the photos I have seen....but...I still think it’s as ugly as sin and looks like something from Mazda. Such a shame...mind you not anywhere nearly as ugly as the new defender I also saw!
