In your shoes I would arrange for your dealer to get it plugged in to check the codes , this sounds like a possible fan pack failure to me .

Follow-up. Took my vanquish to the dealer today and they confirmed it was a faulty temp sensor and not wiring. It’s about a $900 fix. Ouch...better than the alternative. Just wanted to share. Still an awesome car that I love driving

Wow $900 for a sensor including labour.
I would, unless you are under warranty, check with some independent Aston service people, is the sensor located under the plenum chambers ( the white bits) or is it relatively easy to get at. Quite often there are parts that can be cross referenced with ford and or landrover and these can save you a heap.

The sensor is somewhat accessible and I have the right tools to gain access to it. However, even though I was reasonably sure it was the sensor, I wasn’t 100% sure. The dealer wanted $255 to diagnose and they would apply that to the repair cost. I decided to have them do it. The actually cost was $1050 but I was able to negotiate it down to $900 because I have a friend who works for the dealership. There is another independent place I’ve used before but they could look at it until the end of the week. They also said I should consider replacing my front tires as they are down to 30% wear left, but they wanted $920 to replace and my local tire shop can replace them with the factory OEM Pirellis for about $500. That was a no brained decision. Just a side note...the customer service at the dealer is excellent, but I’m guessing it’s part of what you pay for.

As a follow up, I have not had the issue since that one time. Sensor not replaced.

Be interested to hear results on the other posts.

Cheers

wow $255 to diagnose, that probably entails all of 10 mins to hook up the SD11 and run the diagnostics programme for what you have already diagnosed I wonder how much the part was.
This is why i am loathe to do dealer servicing between majors and go to my trusty local Indy. eg fitted 2 door struts for $200 i supplied the struts.

I know its nice to get good service but sometimes they go a bit OTT.

This makes by blood boil. I would go back to the dealer and ask them to justify it. The phrase "totally mugged over" springs to mind.

Bill - you're in Compliance. This is not a good customer outcome.

When I had my Vanquish, I used the brolly in the boot on one occasion and left it in a restaurant (in France).... when the car was at Works Service for some work, I asked them to replace the brolly, which they did... it wasn't cheap. But the final slap was that they charged me £12 labour to fit it! This is a brolly held in by two velcro straps. Brand new car, only ever serviced by Works Service - that's how much they love their customers.

Thank you all, but I’m going to chalk this one down as a valuable lesson learned. Now that I know this forum exists, when I have my next problem, which hopefully isn’t anytime soon, I will ask the forum members for help. I’m mechanical in nature and have always done many repairs myself, but felt a little intimidated at first just because it was an Aston. I love the brolly story and haven’t heard the term brolly for over 30 years. I’m originally from Australia now living in the USA and it brought back fond memories. Yes, agree 12 pounds for labor to attach under the 2 Velcro tabs, yes, they love us.

Next question, does anyone have a video they can share or direct me to on how to change the oil on a 2015 vanquish? It will be due in about 6 months and this I will do myself. Thank you All, Bill

Yes but they probably also had to remove some plastic wrapping from the brolly before "fitting" it so surely this labour charge is entirely reasonable? rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

Well I know for sure they would have water proof tested it to ensure the quality was adequate..
