This feline selfie photo popped up on my FB feed this morning. The cat looks fine. The Aston, not so much.

It`s been a bloody fascinating 24hr of Le Mans so far, 5hr 30m to go and the Orange ORT Vantage is in 2nd in class, which is where it started, good effort so far! Currently the Iron Dames all female crew holding first in their 911, which potentially makes a great story.

The Hypercar class has been a revelation with super competitive racing, Ferrari looking good after taking pole in their first top tier entry in 50 years, Toyota with one car left in a solid 2nd (no, just jumped to first) and the Cadillacs 3rd and 4th. Porsche not really in it.
LMP2 has been tight too, I`m happy to see the Duqueine car, (as I know one of the drivers) that started 20th in class after quali issues is holding a tight 3rd in class.
But, it is Le Mans, let`s see how it looks when the flag falls at 4pm...

I have been following the race from afar at intervals.

Strange incident with a Toyota, which I think at the time was the overall leader.
I was watching the on-board camera. There appeared to be slight contact when lapping a group of cars. The on-board showed coming to a halt, then creeping along at slow speed, before halting again.

Guess that was in the night when the #7 Toyota got knocked out, I was sleeping at that point but I probably managed about 17 of the 24 hours, and Aston finishing 2nd in class!
woohoo

We saw it on screen, it got hit from behind/side after having to brake hard to avoid a collision the odd rain shower caused a few issues all night.

Looks like Corvette won the GT AM Class with the Aston finishing in 2nd place, 30 seconds behind. Which after 24 hours of racing is quite incredible.

Pay back time.
Do you remember the 2017 race?
Aston Martin beat the Corvette on the last lap to win the class.

I noticed that Paul Dalla Lana was not entered this time.
I see why now.

Stunner. Orange really suits the V12 with the bonnet vents, more so than the V8, imo.

Team members might be keeping away from Lawrence Stroll today. He is probably not in a good mood.
The US F1 Grand Prix qualifying did not go well.

There is however, some good news for Lance Stroll. His elderly team mate, is only two places ahead this time.

Can we really the the old adage

‘Safety car on Sunday sell on Monday’?

Or is an AMG GT today?

When Las Vegas is mentioned, I am reminded of Mr. Charlie Munger's quotation;

[on the rapid trading of derivatives and stocks]
"It’s like the slaughter of the innocents. It makes the people who run Las Vegas, seem like good people."

ndeed, it's owned and raced by Dwight Merriman who lives in the US.
Sorry, missed this exchange, as noted, yes, same car! As I understand it, James "Jim" Freeman raced it until he got to an age where he wasn't using the car and was made "an offer he couldn't refuse" from a silicon valley guy with an interest in cars and a bit of money to spare ... so that would fit! Glad car and driver were OK. Happy to report no wheels have fallen off the V12 ...to date!

A new topic would not have been appropriate for this post, so the Miscellaneous topic it is.

There is a firm mentioned occasionally on this forum with which I have no connection, not even a customer, but some of you may enjoy watching their new video.

I saw it on Facebook yesterday Jon, on their own page, and also in some of the AM groups. They are a fantastic team down there and I would not hesitate to recommend them. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say otherwise. They did a fine job with my car a few months ago. BRM.
