Jeez I'm sooo hoping nobody comes up with a part from a Skoda hehe

(that'll be the kiss of death)

The same wires as Skoda for the heated rear window.

It was necessary on a Skoda, to keep your hands warm when you were pushing it. _ hehe

Present day Skodas are better built and are marketed as cheaper versions of VWs.
Owners tend to be slightly embarrased, having bought the cheap car. They can often be heard saying,
"Of course you know, it is a Volkswagen underneath".

Had to think of something, to be an intro to the joke.

Younger PHers have probably never heard of Jasper Carrot.
A comedian who used to tell a whole series of Skoda jokes.
It was pre-VW, when Skoda had a Soviet connection and was fitted with indicator stalks made from licorice.

mid to late eighties youngest daughter needed a new car (well not actually new), and with a large family to look after I tried to make the sensible choices.... however she was a young woman in her mid-twenties... So, I found this absolutely mint, low mileage, FSH Skoda.... for a really great price... and she refused point blank to have anything to do with it.... Was something to do with her friends and 'street cred' apparently.....

I had a Skoda. Superb. It had masses of standard equipment, and was all standard VAG group underneath it all, but it was a bit ugly, I did think they felt they had to do something to incentivise people to move up to a more expensive badge.

VAG are absolute masters of shared componentry, the same car is sold as a Skoda to blue collar workers, Audi to white collar workers, Seat to young people, VW is the people's car, so that is for anyone. The top end Audis share with Bentley, Lamborghini and Porsche. But Bentleys, Porsche and Lambos share some Skoda stuff too, who cares?
