Potentially Controversial - V8 Vantage Car Wrap?
Discussion
This might be controversial and I may get slated... But, I'm thinking of wrapping my 2006 v8 vantage.
Has anybody got any photos of what they've done/suggestions of what would work well?
My car (pic below) is currently silver with red interior & I love it. With a private plate on you'd never know it was 14-15yrs old. But, I think a wrap would give it that extra 'something' to make it look newer & stand out a little more. Also, the wheels are heavily corroded & need doing anyway.
My current thinking is:

My current thinking is:
- White body wrap
- Black roof & mirrors (or would dark mirrors be too much, have them white?)
- Black wheels

Or;
Get the paintwork machine polished then add a ceramic coating or ppf, get the wheels refurbed, possibly some new tyres, tidy up any other minor details and essentially have a beautiful example of an original car.
I don’t think a wrap will make it look any newer. Just a different colour and may reduce its future value or desirability.
Sorry - bit of a traditionalist really when it comes to Astons

Then wheels in Graphite and appropriate caliper colour (mine are red, car is meteorite) And maybe go black on the roof and black 6 bar grille.........
Personal opinion but I'd never buy a wrapped car...............
Oh, and ditch the number plate plinth
I've seen some horror stories when people try and remove a wrap.
I'm sure 99% of professionally fitted and subsequently removed wraps go just fine, but if you're that 1% where it doesn't then you would rue the day you ever did it, as you will be facing big paintwork bills.
Like others have said, the second I see the word "wrapped" then I move on. Nobody in their right mind would buy a wrapped car, as it's impossible to know what the paintwork is like underneath.
Did anyone see that Millionaire Pawn program recently where the fella tried to sell his RR Phantom. The dealer that came to look basically said nobody will touch it as it's wrapped, and you have no way of know what the paintwork is like.
Your car is lovely as it is, just get Paddy or someone to do a proper job on it and and enjoy it....that's what I would do.

OP are you planning on selling it wrapped? Some answers here saying people wouldn't buy a wrapped car but I got the impression you are doing it because you like the look not for resale purposes. It's your car, do what you want with it. I think your proposed colour scheme sounds ok, not my personal choice but then, it is very much about personal choice so I'm not really sure what advice you're hoping for!
Are you (or do you know someone) any good with photoshop? Shouldn't be too hard to mock up the look you want then you can decide for yourself.

Looking beautiful Adam. A classic original.
Here are a few photos, which might help you decide how to improve/ruin it.
If you are a married gentleman, would your wife be happy to wear hookers shoes, whilst in your wrapped car?
One of the wrapped cars has style, but I was slow to realised that until I noticed it is written on the number plate.
Thanks for starting the topic. A fun subject.

In seriousness, I am a sucker for white cars with black/carbon bits and dark wheels, so I can see the appeal. I also think it could "modernise" the car a bit, taking away the "classic & evergreen" style though. It is really a question of wanting to fall in the category of the "OMG A SUPERCAR!" or the more "discreet style & old money" look; not judging if one is better than the other, just two different approaches. It also depends what kind of person/look you are/have I guess, how many other similar Astons are in your area and if you want to blend in or stand out.
My initial reply would have been "go for it, it's just a wrap and reversible" but some commented that it could actually ruin the paint, which I had no idea.

Was that originally supplied by Aston Martin Cambridge? Titanium Silver and Ox blood red? I think I saw that car in 2008 when I bought my V8. Mine was Titanium Silver and black though. Has anybody got any photos of what they've done/suggestions of what would work well?

It's more that a badly installed wrap (or PPF) when removed can end up taking the paint with it, leaving obvious results. I'm sure there's more to it than that, and I suspect it comes down to whether any paintwork has previously been done and to what standard etc etc, but it's not a risk I would take.I have no doubt that wrap installers will tell you it's an old wives tale and never happens. If so, get them to put their money where their mouth is, and put in writing that they accept responsibility for any paint damage which may occur when the wrap is removed. I suspect they might not be quite so sure of their claims then
I'm sure in 99% of cases this never happens, but every now and then some poor bugger will be the 1%.
Ask yourself, do you feel lucky punk
Haha, I've definitely opened a can of worms here!! Thanks for the replies everyone, all very valid (especially the hooker heels comment :-D.
To answer some of the queries, I have no intention of selling the car, it's a long term keeper. Will likely buy a RRS once kids come along & that'll be the family car, with this being the weekend toy. I originally liked the silver as it's a bit more subtle & I was consulting for a living & often had to drive to client sites, I now don't have to drive to work though so figured screw it, I can stand out a bit if I want, although I am concerned about looking like 'that guy'!
