I haven't done this job but what i know is -

The easy way to remove them is to cut the pipe just before the horizontal bend, then on reassembly you need to weld a coupling with a gasket.

I've read somewhere to remove them in 1 piece you will need to remove the front subframe and support the engine.

I wish you luck, I thought about doing this as I've removed the rear subframe but this for me is a job too far.

How will you get the car ecu remapped to accept the reduced gas convertion values? so you wont get error messages?

Let me know how you get on.

Yes ive seen a picture of a manifold thats been cut to remove, 8tech did a 6 branch conversion to his manifolds im hoping he sees this post and weighs in.
Theres quite a lot of info on o2 sensor spacers solving the error message issue seems its a well known thing in the tuner world
Although i am having second thoughts about the whole thing now i'm on the radar at "Team America"

Seriously mate, go and see Mike at BR and get them out.

Whats interesting about this mod is the car will have an increase of bhp by around 25 and it will pick up quicker, all the way through the rev range, plus you'll save petrol cos the remap will make the engine more efficient so mph will be from 18mpg to 26mpg.

I'm keeping my standard secondaries not doing the high flow secondaries.

BR are quoting a 40% improvement in mpg from removing the primary cats and a remap?? Good luck with that - mine has not changed at all after tubular manifolds, 200cpi cats and a remap.

Call Mike mate, everyone have different requirements and so different costs involved.

Your profile isn't accepting emails.

Primary decat and 200cpi cats were £2750 last year including VAT.

I think the secondary cats were circa half of that total, so the remainder would be for primary decat and re-map

Yes have seen that, and I note the figures are for the 565 bhp engine. 22-24mpg is the best I see on my V12V 6 speed at 70-75

You believe suggesting that people don't break the law is somehow a bad thing?

Ive had a proper look at it now and im afraid its just a job too far,
Even if i did the mechanical work theres still the ecu remap to avoid the mil light and to re set the fueling from the constantly cat protecting over rich.
So ive seen sense ( thanks paulrog) and contacted br
Received email next day with a very reasonable price
For job including a switch for active exhaust valves,
As much as i like doing my own work youve got to kbow when its time to call the pros.
As soon as work allows i'll be off br and will report back here.

Well fast forward from April 21! , I never got round to getting my primaries removed, time/ work etc etc. but now I’m retired and times not a problem ( which feels odd).
It’s up on my lift now for full service and a few other bits so belly pan and arch liners are off, so this jobs on my mind again.
Has anyone on here done this job ?, the only bit that I just don’t get is how cutting the rear down pipe just below the cat can making it possible to remove 2 bulky sections of manifold.
Any advice greatly appreciated

I'm not sure how it's done but the manifold is cut just past one of the cats.

I believe that will split the manifold to enable both sections to be removed without front subframe removal.

A flange will need to be welded with a gasket to prevent leaks. Plus the ECU needs reprogramming to avoid engine light.

Keep us updated.
