V12 vantage official

Indeed - marked as unsold. Either reserve not met or buyer somehow pulled out?
I’ve been following many of the new V12 Vantage specs on Instagram and this car is by far the “safest”. Read as “dull” -and probably ordered with resale in mind. It’s been heartening to see so many others having really personal specs; unusual colour, stripes, custom graphics, Q trinkets, etc. This would lead me to believe most of them were not purchased to be instantly flipped. Keepers.

CC is intriguing, and odd to see it go from sold to unsold so quickly (?), as from the FAQs it seems like (rather than being legally binding) bidding is simply a process that gets you to be “digitally introduced to the seller complete the transaction.
There’s also contradictory stuff around what the vendor can/can’t do:

Can I withdraw my lot?
Once you have submitted your auction lot to Collecting Cars and the auction has gone live in our ‘Coming Soon’ section, you cannot withdraw your car. If you do withdraw your car, you will be obliged to pay the fees to Collecting Cars in accordance with clause 11 in the Terms and Conditions that would have been paid by the Buyer, calculated on the last reserve you agreed with Collecting Cars, or if none, a minimum charge as detailed in our fees section below.
You’d hope it wasn’t the case here, but in the FAQs CC say they’ll disclose any shill bidding to the buyer and give them the option to withdraw (and push the fees into the vendor). Flipping modern limited edition Astons in todays financial environment is certainly a higher risk than previously and in fairness unless flipped almost instantly and the edition was genuinely sold out first it’s never been easy to see any modern Aston as a short term investment.
When I got my GT8 nearly 6 years ago I guess I could have probably made +20% if I sold it there and then whereas now it’s probably back to the base price plus a bit.
That cc V12 was definitely bought to flip with that spec ( unlike most other examples I have seen including Petes etc ) and given it was relatively easy to get one even after Astons way of picking buyers had gone through the tiers I’m almost a little surprised it reached that figure it did.

Some amazing cars on that link. Looks like people really went to town on their V12s which is great to see. I didn’t think it would sell for anything beginning with a “3” as the spec was rather dull, and as others have said, perhaps the original intention was always to try a “flip”
With regards to any spurious bidding, I thought every bid, ie amount and name of the bidder, was visible on the listing. So if CC believe there has been some spoofing to raise the price, they surely know who the culprit(s) is/are. I’m assuming that the listing has no mention of any reserve too, for obvious reasons I guess.
Imho CC is a strange venue to list a car like this. Surely a potential seller would be better off placing it with or a specialist dealer, or perhaps an AM MD, on a SOR basis?

I’m guessing that some Aston dealers won’t facilitate “ assisting “ flippers especially if realistically there isn’t enough skin in the game profit for themselves.
Yes I would think that’s right. Although I do recall seeing a car listed at AM Nottingham a few months ago for a rather healthy premium. I suppose it depends on the relationship the original buyer has with the dealer, and whether the dealer thinks it’s worthwhile from a business/reputation perspective. As we have discussed before, AP was always very vocal against the practice. I don’t recall seeing any similar comments from LS on the subject. It will be interesting to see if the other cars which are currently available do actually sell for what’s being asked. We shall see. Best Regards

"Would Sir like just a subtle touch of yellow highlighting ?
Then leave it to me. I will have that incorporated in your specification."
What I did notice, apart obviously from the yellow, is a change to the sill plate wording.
Out with England, in with Great Britain.
What is that all about ?
Perhaps it is the paint spraying, now being done in Wales.
( They are not using Mr. Stroll's new wings design. )

Talk about bad taste. The employee at Newport Beach AM who signed off on that should be fired. AstonV said:
