Another up for auction....ASTON MARTIN V12 VANTAGE - 226 MILES
I think it’s the same car that they “sold” for £275,000 just before Christmas last year. That was below the reserve I think. It will be interesting to see what it goes for this time……..where is Mystic Adam when we need his wisdom?!
wink

OK Im going to say £265k this time and I think it will sell, because hes clearly more desperate than before and thus likely to have reduced the reserve. Lets face it the economy and cost of living crisis hasnt improved since it was listed last time...
Less than 1 hour to go....

Currently £230,500 - it won't get to £265k is my prediction. wink

Yup, unsold - highest bid was £252,500, so exactly £23,000 less than when it went unsold in Decemeber.

£252,500……..unsold, again. I guess the reserve was dropped but not by enough.

Good guess Cayman clap

As I said previously in this thread, I still think CC is a strange venue to use to sell this type of car.

Must be the poorest spec flipper car out there.

Boring black/black, no carbon exterior packs and the awful comfort seats amongst others.

Do the vendors pay a fee to the auction, when their car fails to meet the reserve?
If so, how is it calcuIated? Is it some percentage of the highest bid?
Hope not a percentage of reserve. That would spoil our fun. Unable to calculate.

Perhaps two payments so far then.

No, the seller will have paid the photographer for the library of images but with Collecting Cars it's the buyer who pays the fees. I imagine the CC agent will have been on the phone to the seller encouraging them to drop the reserve or even sell it without reserve. Be interesting to see what happens next.

Silver wheels and badges would lift it a lot.

I think the seats are fine, yes they aren’t the fancy carbon buckets but the sport+ vantage seats are very good still.

Wheels - Ok, that's an easy and inexpensive thing to remedy.

But if I was wanting a £300k+ cars there is no way I would make do with the poor choice of seats. They may be good, but at that price you absolutely want the best only.

I don't think that would necessarily put all buyers off, Adam.
Most splashing £250,000 on a weekend 'toy', would not be concerned about another £20,000 for replacement seats of their choice.

The old seats could even become practical ornaments, in the heated car house.

'Poor choice of seats' is also relative to how you want to use the car, no? If you use it primarily as a track car, or if you want to use it as more of a hardcore driver's car then you would definitely spec the carbon buckets for sure but the V12 is interesting as it isn't really a Porsche GT3 rival, or at least it has a great range. It can be used as a GT car as well, in which case having seats you can get in and out off relatively easily (from most reviews of the carbon bucket seats note the ingress was tricky with the high thigh support), or if you want a seat with cooling and heating for longer distance driving that still looks great, then that wouldn't make it a poor choice but just a choice. A lot of the V12s with the sports seats look great to me. The carbon seats looking amazing and pretty impractical. It's a choice. The spec of this car seemed rather safe, dull and uninspiring, whatever the seats chosen.

IIRC, it was full leather or leather/alcantara with different colour splits.

This one been sitting at the Newcastle-upon-Tyne dealer for a little while, believed to be sold and thus likely to be registered 01st March.
A bit shouty but looks so much better than that 'safe' black one (at least to my eyes)

The carbons seats are the only way to go on this car.

Comfort seats would be like the 18 ways on a GT3RS, just a massive mistake and a resale disaster.

Not sure that is the right comparison to make that point. The V12 isn't in the same category as a GT3RS. The GT3RS is designed almost exclusively for the track, hence there isn't an option for "18 way sofas". The V12 - if making a Porsche comparison - is closer in philosophy to a GT3 and even then still has a more grand touring emphasis than track. You can option the GT3 with or without the rear wing, or with or without carbon bucket seats. Some, who want to daily a GT3, do go for the 18 way seats, esp with on the Touring. No one options a GT3RS without a rear spoiler or with sofas. Good example of people specing a car to actually it as they wish v flippers or those who buy a car based on some future resale value, imagined or otherwise. Also depends on what else you have in the garage I think, what else are you driving and how you intend to use the V12.
