Politely informed them this morning that if I haven't been able to collect the car by 2 weeks today I'll reject it and get a refund. I swear blind I heard the guy fall off his seat.
Not the best introduction to Aston ownership.
had awful service at Aston Leeds (jct600), the whole experience was a let down, cancelled in the endNot the best introduction to Aston ownership.
Done a few bits since getting it home.
Front and rear cameras in, new tracker system fitted, it's into the detailers next week and he'll have it for about a week, black wheel nuts have arrived (can't understand why AM doesn't fit them if the lightweight wheels are specced,) collecting Secondary Cat delete pipes on Sunday and ordered new gaskets and bolts so they'll also be going on next week.
Getting on first name terms with the staff at the local fuel station
Totally undecided as to whether or not to get Apple CarPlay fitted, the oem satnav is better than I thought but not as good as I'd like. I bought a jobbie to hold my phone and tried that out on the way back from Newcastle to use Google Maps but to be honest, the look of it didn't suit the look of the car.
Not too fussed about music via CarPlay as much prefer to listen to the sound of the car, makes such a soulful wail even when bumbling around in it.

My car (vanquish) has got the android auto link and i have over the last 1700 miles ( a trip to france which hasn't quite finished yet) used both the AML built in sat nav and Google car nav system and tbh the built in system is nicer to user BUT mine is out of date by a few years and Aston want a silly amount to update it.
I find Google gives some instructions too late I.e. when your going through the junction she will say turn right etc? However the inbuilt system constantly tries to find the VERY VERY SHORTEST route including some completely unsuitable tracks for an Aston and you might save half a mile but end up using an extra 2 gallons of fuel travelling a 6mph.
So there isn't much hetween the 2 so far as I'm concerned but my choice would be to update my built in nav if I cam get them to screen a sensible price

Is there not a choice somewhere between 'shortest' and 'quickest'? A satnav that only takes you down farm tracks doesn't seem right to me.AdamV12V said:

My inbuilt gives 3 routes at outset ,blue. Green and red. The handbook only states that it picks the 3 shortest routes...that's it no further info on it. Even if you pick the longest route of the three it will make adjustments on route and again try to shave a corner here and corner there by sending you down some really unsuitable back lanes. It was far more prevalent in France than in the UK but that's when I needed to rely on my sat nav most.My previous Mercs and BMW sat navs were great overseas but the Aston as per many of their infotainment nuances seem to be lagging.
That said I didn't buy it for the Sat nav
Car was in with Allumy Motorsport last week to have the geometry set up, it was all over the place initially.
It's back up there tomorrow to free the exhaust valves off, secondary cat delete pipes are in and I'd just be able to quieten it down a touch around the vicinity of where I live. Live in an 1820s cottage in a World Heritage site, all high walls and narrow roads so the noise reverberates about, however, once out of the immediate area the valves will be opened again.
Off on the first run out with it on Wednesday for 3 nights away in sunny Scotland and a 3 night Wales trip booked for next month.
No idea how the pics have appeared sideways!
