Hi folks, I've been waiting to post when my new car got delivered but not sure now when that will be.

Anyone else been told that delivery of their Alpine is being delayed?

Looks like my car got as far as Bristol but is now being sent back to the factory.

Ryan (at Alpine Manchester) contacted me to let me know.

Issue appears to be related to a potential issue with "non-compliant" floor mounts?

Is that the seat mount? Any thoughts?

I didn't have a delay around seat mounts, the excuses given to me were; a lack of drivers, locking wheel nuts, misaligned fuel filler cap and alarm modifications.

My car didn't go back to the factory though. Hope you get it resolved soon.

I think alarms get fitted this side of the Channel, and possibly locking wheelnuts also.

According to the guy who did my PPF delivery delays are not limited to Alpine; he sees it across the board, and most of his trade seems to be with cars that are far more expensive than ours...

Yep alarms and locking wheel bolts get fitted here, well Renault and Dacia do so I would imagine Alpine will be the same.

There are major issues across all manufacturers currently with deliveries, Renault and Dacia are experiencing it so Alpine will be too, there are issues in the UK and issues on the other side too.

Had a read via Google translate on the French forums and it appears this may actually be a structural issue with a certain batch of cars impacted.

Looks like they are being returned to the factory to be stripped and rebuilt....

From the letter Tim at Solihull was asked to send me…

“Your Alpine centre will contact you from the 20th of March 2023, to inform you of the provisional delivery date of your vehicle”.

So watch this space I guess. I’m glad their QA has picked up the potential safety related issue but a bit of a shame it took them the whole of February to decide the car needed to go back to Dieppe having sat around being held in the UK somewhere (Bristol?). If they have to strip it and rebuild it and then re transport it I’m going to be going over it with a fine tooth comb on the (probably misguided) assumption that cars are generally harder to dismantle and then reassemble to factory fresh than they are ‘just’ to assemble on the line the first time round.

Same as the letter I got from Ryan.

Have you had an update at all? I’ve heard nothing… but I guess “from 29th March” could mean anything!

Sorry but that would be me out, I would not be buying any car that had to go back to the factory to be stripped and rebuilt .

So... latest update is that my car won't be back at the factory until the 19th April.

On the French forums they are saying three weeks at the factory before any new delivery date.....

Not sure how I feel but I will need to know what they did before I accept the car.

I ordered mine with the "expensive" option Lime Green paint and worry about all this moving the car around so I'll be going over the body work too when I see the car.... sigh.

Having had multiple TVRs and Lotus's I understand the low volume car issues but still....

I think I’d be pushing for a new car rather than one that has been taken apart and rebuilt.

Yes, I know that there’s never a guarantee that a brand new car hasn’t had major work before you see it, but now that you do know….

Are there any clues as to what’s needing to be rectified on these cars?

Yes, I’ve followed the link above and read through most of that thread. Does seem to be as you say.

No, nothing. Sent an email to Tim at Solihull, initial response was that he was waiting for a response to emails he had sent to Alpine UK but had heard nothing… followed by a second email saying he was leaving the business. So no car and now no continuity in sales relationship. So need to pick up with dealer manager.

Received this from Alpine UK via Alpine Solihull -

“Unfortunately, we don’t have anymore information. I would advise that they be sceptical of misinformation of forums. As mentioned yesterday, just because their vehicle went to factory, does not mean any work was done, it was more a precaution. The advantage of us being a small brand means the vehicles can be sent back and checked properly rather than having the cars looked at upon arrival at import centre like would happen for a budget brand”

That is a rather arrogant response. I would counter that by saying why not get it right first time & get all the checks done before you dispatch the car to another country.
I feel for you, all the excitement building of looking forward to a new car & then months of delays. I hope it arrives in perfect condition.
