Hmm. Looks like it was 1963, and at Le Mans... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1963_24_Hours_of_Le_...

I think I worked out that 2023 - 60 = 1953 boxedin

Good work John, well done.

Here is the transporter setting off for Le Mans (I think) in 1963.

Indeed, AM should make cars that look like that now. Doesn't need 'hyper-luxury', just needs beauty.

Those aren't the 1963 Le Mans cars though, the numbers don't match (unless they were changed later).

Hence my inclusion of, 'I think'.

Am sure that you now have your Sherlock Holmes hat on, and will soon report the correct year.

If that proves impossible, perhaps they were going to Goodwood.

It was 1963 but the photo is of the cars going off for practice/training session.
DP212 (no:15) now has the Kamm tail, added after the 62 Le Mans.

A more up to date photo from my collection, taken at Goodwood.

Thank you LBS.
Do you know whether their departure was to Le Mans, or to a practice session at a local UK circuit ?

I like to caption photos as accurately as possible.
Perhaps the competition numbers displayed, were from their previous events.

As far as I'm aware it was for practice at Le Mans.
Sadly, DP212 never got any further than training at Le Mans in 1963, and only the two newer cars (DP214 and 215) took part in the 24-hour race. Phil Hill was behind the wheel of 214, and it's claimed he was the first man to exceed 300 km/h down the famed Mulsanne straight before chicanes were introduced.
