huesey1974,
6'-2" and have fit very comfortably for the last ten years and 200,000 miles in my Jag XKR, clearly the closest car in size and proportion to the DB9. So you might have a "fitting" in one just to get an idea. You might even consider one. It's clearly the best automobile I;ve ever owned in 55 years of driving, and even at 199,800 miles is still my daily driver and occasional track car with 600hp pushing it. Supremely reliable.

There's much to be said for the Jag X150. Half the price of an Aston and about half as much to run. But they're completely different, so fitting in one doesn't mean you'll fit in the other.

There mus be a DB9 within striking distance you can see and sit in, even if you don't want to buy it.

You may also want to consider a couple of upgrades when you make your purchase. The wireless carplay kit offered by Aston Installations transforms the usability of the centre screen.
How does the wireless carplay kit work alongside or replace the existing infotainment system? I've seen some that add a screen on top of the OEM garmin display and others that wire into the original screen and presumably can be flipped between if ever needed for e.g. the analogue clock settings.

Do you have a photograph of the your CarPlay install?

I should think you'll be fine. I'm 6'2 and went to see a DB9 before the V12V and it was really roomy inside. I'm based up in Oxfordshire and McGurks are literally 10 minutes from my house. I'd be happy to nip up and check anything out for you / FaceTime you to talk you through anything you want to see. They're really good up there and I'm utterly fastidious for detail.

Cheers

Chris.
Hi Chris,
Amazingly kind offer, really appreciate that. I will think it over and let you know, i may be heading home early now so if so i will be popping in to see it.
Thanks
Derek

Hi,
I do like the XKR and nearly bought one before my Maserati, my mate has one and he loves it also. Closest DB9 to home is 100 miles, very few for sale in Scotland. I will get to one though.
Thanks

I have a friend that is coming with me on a European road trip in the DB9. He is 6’4. I’ll get him to sit in it and let you know how he gets on.
After the trip the car will be for sale. May be a bit old for you as it is a 2010 car with the sports pack. It will only have about 14,000 miles on it when it gets back off the trip.

Morning Derek,

I’m 6’3” and fit in mine easily, albeit I have the previous seats in my 2005 model. I have sat in a friend’s 9.2 and although I had to adjust the seat as he is shorter it was no problem.

It really depends on how reclined / upright you wish to be and if it’s your body or legs that are long.

But as others have said it’s more about getting a drive in one to really appreciate if it’s for you.

Good luck with the search - brilliant cars.

Sean

Thanks. He’s (mr tremlini on here) a bit of a genius with a lens, that picture was taken with the car in motion.

The Aston Installations job on the carplay uses the same screen (I think on older models they can replace the screen with a better res unit) as oem. They do some wiring magic and install a hidden toggle switch so you can switch back to the oem display whenever you want. It is very good. I can pop up a pic later.

Ok interesting. I've seen those.

There also appears to be a product made by IDCORE and sold by distributors for circa £850. This one uses the OEM buttons on the Aston Martin centre console for navigating carplay.

Looks good. I suppose the only benefit of the AI solution is you can go back to oem at the flick of a switch if so desired (cant think of a reason to but…). This one looks like once its in its in? Bit cheaper too.

I'm 6' 2" and fit in a DB9.2 fine, though steering wheel could extend out a little further from the dashboard so could sit further back

From the videos, I believe the IDCore system flips between OEM Garmin and CarPlay by holding the Back button on the OEM centre console for a few seconds

I just started a new thread on CarPlay as not to hijack this one: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I’m 6’2” and find a DB9 fine.
However I do prefer the F-Type driving position and it’s a bit roomier as you sit lower.

The DB9 is a beautiful thing. Buy a good one & you can’t go wrong.

I'm 6'0 tall and there's about 3-4" of space above my head so it may be a seat adjustment thing.

So, you won't fit in a DB9 and there's no room. But it says 'Aston' on the front which means you will have to buy it smile

Morning all,
Just an update, i missed out on the mcgurk DB9 as it was sold before i could get there. Yesterday i went to AM in edinburgh as they had a 2010 DB9, unfortunately it was in prep so never got to sit in it, however should get the chance today. I did sit in a 2015 Vantage and when comfy had 1” head clearance which is totally fine. I actually really like it so if I can’t fit in the DB9 i may go back for this one. They also had a speedster at just under £1 million, some machine but no good for the Scottish weather!! I will keep updating and thanks again for all your input.
Cheers

Hi,
So, I couldn’t get to sit in one in Scotland and decided to fly to london hoping for the best. I’m happy to say that after some configuration i found i had 1” head clearance and my legs and arms we’re comfortable. The car was in stunning condition after a few test drives i bought her. 400 miles home with no comfort issues. Car drove beautifully through sunshine and heavy rain. 24 MPG which i thought was fine. Sound system is excellent but Sat Nav and entertainment system not great so defo going for Carplay. Cant find a mark on the car, leather looks utterly brand new. Ride is fairly firm but not crashy in anyway. Not a fan of the standard Pirelli tyres but that’s for later. Engine bay is as clean as it gets, again looks new. Needs serviced but the garage i bought it from gave supplied all the required items and will pay Peter Martins to carry it out. Only been 800 miles since last one (400 i done) but its over a year now. Anyway, thanks for all your input.
