I'm certainly not slagging Rikki - indeed he very kindly inspected my OI before I bought it. I'm slightly suprised that it seems so difficult to actually buy the MSD system - on my last enquiry I was told he'd sent them back for testing and haven't heard anything since. Seems strange when I've got £1500 burning a hole in my pocket. Perhaps we do need another UK distributor?

Dear Tim

I guess Rikki has his own share of timewaster and "smart arses" calling him. If you are really and genuine interested make it clear to him and he will listen.

Can you blame Rikki to be a bit on alert when he gets a phone call asking about an MSD now? I wouldn't...

And yes, you can screw the engine if you install the MSD ignition like you build a Lego kit: greater heat and wrong carb are not great on our engines in the medium-term.

Hi A67,
I did think "I would like to buy the Steel Wings MSD kit, do you have any in stock?", was hardly too challenging! I appreciate what you're saying about difficult customers, but still I find it odd having to persuade someone to allow me to buy something from them! Obviously one of those Aston things, hopefully I'll get used to it. As a result, I have rather lost the urge to bother at the moment though.

1 Sussex Autos (Paul) really knew the score as they do these jobs for Aston works and Heritage
2 confirmed the box type, lock up or not (cheers Roo)
3 have a fixed charge of £177+VAT plus ATF (circa £50)
4 can take the car this week whilst I am in the US so it will be ready on my return to London

Just a quick update on the cogs as previously reported Will advised me to head to Sussex Auto Services. Great advice as things turned out.

Firstly they discovered I already had a quick shift kit (TF2 kit) fitted !!! So I have one brand new in the box if someone needs one. (email me )
Second they discovered the box had little metal bits and the oil was black meaning slipping bands. So 1 x overhaul later (just 6 working days) and all is good.
