havent driven a amv8 yet as im worried will end up buying one. However having sat in one at motor show i thought the interior was very disappointing, material wise. Not a patch on db9. what is it with cars that the plastic on a 80k car is worse than a 300 quid dishwasher?

It's really wierd people talking about plastic in the V8 - mine is leather and aluminium. Was the one at the motor show a pre production model or something?

We managed all the way to Le Mans and back in a V8 and not one rattle ?
What he said (except the Le Mans bit)
what he said including the Le Mans bit and mine was faster.
...but not fast enough!!! ...doubt if any of the V8's on the Le Mans trip went fast enough to induce any rattles!!!

if i recall right, the switches/buttons within the dash, and especially the electric seat switches and window/mirror switches were cheap looking plastic. Suffice to say i found the interior disappointing. The dishwasher comment wasnt in particular a dig at an aston, just a comment that the quality of switchgear you get on a household electrical item is of a higher visual/feel quality than that used on cars which doesnt seem right.

not sure what the credit card comments are supposed to mean, sorry if i offended anyone by mentioning your cheap plastic switches

The switchgear in nearly all production cars is outsourced. In wouldn't surprise me if some of the aston and porsche switchgear come from the same factory... Even the components that comprise these switches are subcontracted out.

Porsche and aston don't build cars from scratch, they merely bolt things together, ikea style

Can anyone clarify the difference between cheap and expensive plastic?

Running a 355 Spider means you're well qualified to comment on fraglie interiors I guess. At least 'our' expensive plastic switches are accompanied by the sweet smell of equally expensive leather as opposed to the smell of damp carpets.

each to their own I guess...

But i think the V8 interior is great, better than all the other cars i have owned.

ok so at the beginning of this thread it says the switchgear is from a mondeo. ive no idea if that true but it certainly feels like it. Dunno why people are getting upset by me metioning inferior plastic switches on the amv8, i love the car, looks and noise, just think that in a car that expensive the quality of the (yes outsourced) components could be better. Im not critising your pride and joys and even if i was, its a car, not like im saying your wives are ugly... Ive not seen this kind of reaction on other forums, you always see ferrari owners etc slating the defects on their own cars...doesnt mean they dont love their cars and the marque.

For the record in comparison to the last few cars ive owned - maserati 3200, 355 spider, and merc sl55 amg the maser and the merc had better switches and plastic bits, the 355 interior was pretty dated.

My wife is ugly and I wouldn`t care if you said so but criticize my plastic switches and I take great exception, get your priorities right fella !
