Thanks to Works Service, who sent me a copy of the build sheet of my Virage this week, I am now certain that my car was delivered new to British Motors SA, Paris, on December 20th, 1990. However, I find it hard to google my way to some relevant history about this seemingly no longer existing distributor / service dealer. The list of AML Distributors and Dealers of August 1990 lists: "British Motors SA, 56-58 Rue La Fontaine, 75016 Paris, Principal: E. Bensoussan".

56 and 58 Rue La Fontaine seem to house a fitness club and some Serbian organisation now.

Mr Bensoussan seems to have been quite a dealer at some time (if you like Miura's): www.google.nl/search?sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&q=%22Edgar%20Bensoussan%22

Many thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me!

Edgar Bensoussan was and is a lovely chap and one of the most influential motorcar dealers in the world. Not only did he have British Motors SA but also ran a car collection on behalf of a private French Family - brokering some of the most important and rare cars in the world.

Therefore I completely disagree with the last post !!!!

All very well people, but I'm trying to get some serious information about the history of his dealership here. For instance: how long were they in business, did they sell a lot of Astons, why did they stop and when?, any relation to British Motors SA, Monte-Carlo? etc. etc. Thanks for your understanding.

:J: - that was roughly my point!

Virage - I believe that British Motors was an AML dealership through all of the 80's until around 1992-1994 when E.B sold the site to concentrate on his more lucrative ventures and indeed his retirement (in his mid 80s now). I believe that at the time it was the only dealership in France and probably only sold an average 6 cars a year.

You mentioned you obtained info from Works Service - I suggest you ask your contact to ask the chap in charge, Mr Riding-Felce who was with AML at the time.
