Over on the Cerbera forum,Longbow is putting together a Super car shoot out.Basically its a recreation of the infamous Clarkson video,where the hottest cars of there day battled it out to see who could do a standing mile in under 30 seconds.As most know the Cerbera walked away with it.The plan is to do the same thing but with todays cars.And see if the Cerb can still stack up with todays best.The date has been confirmed as the 12th August at Wattisham airfield home of the AH64 Apache.The thread title is (Cerbera versus the best of the rest).If your intrested get on over and put your name down.
as an ex Cerbera and now AM owner, I would discourage any production Aston owner to take up this challenge. Frankly, your Vanquish S has as much chance as I do with Nicole Kidman (unless of course the Cerbera breaks down on the start line). Besides which, this sort of common, boy racerish activity is surely beneath the dignity of an Aston Martin gentleman

Not in the Aston anyway, as I'll need to stop for a picnic halfway.
And, all that warranty work at 3/4 distance.
Still, at least the TVR's will all be stopping for engine rebuilds.

I've read of this in a few places...
And all I remember everty time I read of the gauntlet going down was going to Croix and seeing a Cerb pack in for the day after he was lapped on the third lap.
Albeit in the Caterham, but I reckon the V8 would run similar rings round it on such a track.
Surely something Top Fuel would be more of a challenge for the Cerb?
(PS I do like TVRs. Haven't ended up buying one yet, but am sure I'll have a Griffith one day).

on a more serious note, although the cerbera's sheer straightline grunt would kick the aston's arse, I think the handling is so superior that round most circuits it would be quicker. I must admit that I am not 100% convinced that this is true but based on my memory of driving both at, say, the 'ring, I'd give the trophy to the Aston.

Interesting comment....I have just got back from the ring and was completly amazed by the handling of the Cerbera, if the Aston is that much better it would be awesome.

It's a while since I drove a Cerbera but from memory, although the AM's handling is probably better, I'm not sure it would be enough to overcome a 150 or more bhp/ton deficite. Particularly as I seem to remember that, once settled, the TVR had huge levels of grip. Certainly at somewhere like the 'Ring I'd back the Cerb. to walk away from the Aston.
