Per previous thread my Vantage is in the dealership being diagnosed as to why it went flat after 24 hours of inactivity. Checked with them for an update just now and was somewhat astounded to be told that the battery will always go flat after 2-3 days even if everything is working OK !

Is this right ?! I mean I use the car pretty much daily anyway and can if necessary install an outside socket in my driveway to allow use of a conditioner on an extended absence. But what do I do if I drive to the airport and am away for 4 days. Does this mean I need to pre-book the AA to jump start me on my return ? I haven't seen any sockets in the Fly & Drive car park.

Does anyone out there have a real estimate of how long you can leave the car ?

Of the numerous (and continuing) problems I've had with my car since taking delivery 10 weeks ago, I've not had this issue.

I've left the car for a week or so, didn't use the battery charger, and it started no problem.

2-3 days is crap.

Thanks. That was pretty much what I thought. Smacks of the dealer trying to blame me for being a cheapskate and not getting a conditioner fitted. If this was really the case then they should fit them as standard.

Dealers are advised not to sell without battery conditioner - which to my mind is like admitting that you're selling a car with a slow puncture and then asking extra for a foot pump! However 2-3 days is utter rubbish. If there are no other probs they will go about a week (still pretty poor). HOWEVER eroneous battery drains are a common prob. with V8s - door relays, window relays, you name it - and if you're battery is failing early that will almost certainly be the cause. Your dealer is just being lazy. Leaving Heathrow for a weeks plus holiday? - go by cab!

Come to think of it, I actually left mine for two weeks and it wasn't a problem. So there seems to be a bit of misinformation being peddled. Think I'll wait and see what they say when I get it back.

Coyft, did they find out why yours went flat yesterday ? Or did they just change the battery ?

Mine has also sat un-touched for three weeks without issue, and started like it has only been left for a few hours, no issues at all.

Same here - left mine for weeks before, and started first time... I'm more than happy to leave it for a week or two somewhere if I'm away.

Battery conditioners are supplied on DB9's. Mine lasts about 18 days before it dies.

that's funny, I started mine yesterday morning after 2 weeks sat idle in the garage.. no problem at all.

does it depend on what optional kit you have fitted, eg phone system, electric seats, alarm upgrade?

Left mine for 10 days and it was OK.

Your dealer's fobbing you off.
