Whilst I'd agree with that comment relating to the X-Type (Mondeo) and S-Type (Lincoln LS), I think Jag should be given credit where it's due for the new XJ. This is a stand-alone (separate? ) chassis with no connection to any Ford product. Long may this trend continue.

Hmmm, I know we like to speak as we find, and are pretty broad-minded on here, but that's a little bit too un-pc even for me. I'm sure our German contributers won't appreciate such comments.

Sorry to pee on anyone's party - don't mean to be a killjoy

Its still built by the same company.

Every aston still has the character and feel of an aston. I laugh whenever i see such comments as "Now my DB6 was a real Aston". We cant do anything about it, stop being such snobs.

after doing the factory tour and driving the new cars including the new DB7 GT, I can say that I was impressed and that they do have a certain character about them like no other car I've driven.

looking forward to my new AMV8

Rich that was the Doctor himself. For many years he worked for Porsche having initially graduated from Stuttgart Uni. We have a lot to thank the good man for.

ST170j,

I would equate a letter of intent equal to an order in all honesty, I imagine thats what the guy means.
As for defecting, as we said to the engineers that came out to speak to us at the Foctory thing, the AMV8 needs more power than they proposed, else Turbo owners wont defect. I want one because it looks good but I know in standard form it wont touch the 911 turbo.

St170,

The Turbo is the best most sorted car in the world bar none. Yes it is easy to drive, yes it is reliable, yes there are more interesting handling cars, but all round the Turbo makes other cars look like their pants are round their ankles. Just the same as you are going to look if you keep insulting everyone on here..

J, I imagine Rich may have just read some of your initial posts where you accuse another poster of being a liar, hardly the tone for the New kid on the block! You'll find a decent bunch of carnuts on PH, very few of them who actually post details of their garage on their profiles, but they do come out the woodwork with helpful comments when they have insight into issues/problems. I'm afraid you won't get much feedback/banter from them if their first impression of you is an abrasive "always right, everyone else is talking crap" smartarse.

regards
