I purchased the car from new in 2004, having problems with rust on boot, doors and body. Any other Zagato owners having the same problems?

I thought the DB7Z was aluminium?

Its my dad's car, and its back at Aston Martin at the moment being treated for rust, the rust is being caused by the paint reacting with the metal, and he believes it to be steel, but it could be aluminium.

I have some experience of DB7Z ownership (with more than one car). The boot lid is alunminium so I seriously doubt it would be rust. You can get corrosion where the alu meets steel but as far as I am aware this is not likely to be a problem with these cars. I have heard of problems with paint on the doors, and problems with doors not being hung properly so they damage the front wing at the outside edge when pushed fully open. Odd!

Ask the question on the AMOC forum too - there may be a few more DB7Z owners there (there ain't many of them...)

I had this problem on my bootlid, sorted under warranty. I'm interested to read about the doors having the same issue though, I'll be checking mine first thing in the morning. The lid is ally, but ally can suffer from corrosion and paint adherance issues as easily as steel, it appears!

I saw a DB7Z in London recently (near Hayes Mews) with rust at the rear. I had a quick peek as I walked by and thought it was odd given the aluminium thing.

Is there a rust warranty of any type on the car given its age?
