The DB7 has been a huge success for Aston, and hopefully the DB9 (or whatever it's called) will contunue that trend.

As for the AMV8, well the reaction to the concept has been fantastic, and the car generally well received. In my opinion, Aston need to build this car, although Porsche owners (the target market I understand) are notoriously brand loyal - a big challenge then!

With regards to the paddle shift, I have been fortunate enough to drive both an Aston and a Ferrari with the system. Yes, they are somewhat agressive in their action, but that is the nature of the beast. I'm not a good enough driver to be able to comment on the merits (or disadvantages) of each system, but I have to agree with the "purists" view (not that I am one!) that ultimately it is very satisfying to change gear yourself...

Personally, I wish Aston all the best... I've had a soft spot for the cars since I was a kid and having had a tour of the factory years ago (pre-DB7) I was stunned at the craftsmanship involved. Here's to Aston and a bright future! - hopefully that, we can ALL agree on.

The future is bright, Podie, the future is Aston Martin Racing Green!! Wonderful company, wonderful cars.

I have been fortunate over the years to drive some amazing cars, but Aston Martin is where my heart belongs. And yes, Chris n, I do drive something tasty, but that's another story....

ST170, if you had a letter of intent with a dealer and were the 7th letter they had been sent, would you if you were sincere in your intent consider that you had placed an order?

I am in the same position and consider myself to have one on order, as do many others here. Calling someone a liar when you know jack shit about them is in my opinion stupid beyond belief. You can see easily from the guys post that he is genuine, so why the insinuation that the guy is lying? Order/Intent etc there is almost no difference in my book.

Guys, guys! Calm down!! Ok, lets define this...If you have given a dealer a letter of intent, then you are on the list of INTERESTED parties for the car. These people will then be contacted by the dealer as and when Aston Martin are in a position to accept ORDERS for the car and a deposit will be required. This is when the intent becomes an order for the vehicle. The dealer will then receive their allocation and place the orders either in chronological order based on the letters, or deposits. That is at the dealer's descretion.

However, I can see the other side of this arguement and how people who have submitted a letter of intent view that as an order because they were not able to place a deposit due to the factory/dealer saying no to it.

ST170J is "officially" correct with his viewing of the situation, but I don't agree with his attitude and his tone. Also, I would love to know how he has had an invite to Gaydon (another posting) when even the dealers haven't seen round the new facility yet?

So there you go. My tuppence worth......

I can assure you it's not an intentional attitude or tone I just type stuff in.
As for the strike, please get back to work lads and keep those Astons coming or all those leters of intent may be filed away for ever
I wonder if they would've all been so keen to down tools and risk their jobs if we weren't in the middle of a heatwave, lol
