Best Colour - V8 Vantage
Discussion
2 buckets, one soapy water, one clean water for rinsing, with a grit gard in the bottom.
2 wash mitts, one for relatively clean area, roof etc, one, for really mucky bits, bottom half of car.
start with the top, use the soapy water with 1 mitt, wash in straight lines only, very gently, rinse the mitt in the clean water every couple of strokes etc
once you get used to doing it like that, it will be pretty quick and easy, but will *minimise* inflicting swirl marks and other damage on your car.
So you can get it professionally detailed, then just wash it every few weeks and it will stay looking that good for a long time...dont let anyone else wash it if you can...one wash n dry at a crappy car wash or even a dealer when its in for a service and you can kiss goodbye to your lovely swirl free finish.
Thats just the washing bit - loads more to read up on Detailingworld I think if you really want to know how to care for your car properly ...or of course, just be lazy and pay one of the pro guys a few hundred quid every 3months or so

i posted Toro red a few pages back, but after seeing this sublime N400 today i'm not so sure anymore!,
this really was beautiful IMO, almost an opalescent silvery blue which looked sensational in the sunlight
does anyone know what colour this is and whetehr its only available on the N400?
if it isn't this is what i'd choose now i think TBH

although in this case it does look nice, generally im not a fan of silver cars as everyone has a shade of siliver or grey these days...just look at the Fiesta next to it ...Silver to me is a neither here nor there colour. Black or white, or a bold colour, but not silver....it just blends in

The three colours on the N400 are unique as I understand it. I have not seen the silver and, whilst I am sure that it looks great ( and different) for fans of silver, I agree that it is just another silver. The orange was the bold colour and the Berwerk Black my choice. It is the only colour that the new rear lights work well with and the subtle body kit also suits the Black. Black calipers add the finishing touch. However beauty is in the eye of the beholder.I love the silver N400 colour as well, sod the fact that there are so many silver cars around, they always look clean & the light colour shows off the AMV8's lines perfectly!
having said that does the AMV8 look bad in any colour..... no, I even like the Orange!
By the way Steve how are you finding your stunning new N400 compared to the standard 4.3???

what do you reckon to this? distinctive to say the least. i think i like it but would be hard to sell on

I like the exterior, and I like that tan leather on other cars. But I think it highlights all the black plastic bits too much inside...and Im afraid I just hate the walnut...the only place that has in this day and age is in a Roller or Bentley and even then, its tacky and old hat with modern materials around.
Im afraid thats the good thing about a dark grey/black leather interior (with nicely contransting stitching of course) - it blends in with all the plastic bits for a more cohesive look IMO.
I have the dark grey myself of course with white stitching, if choosing againg, from new I would probably go for stitching that matched the body colour of the car, thats about it.
ETA: and of course, thats why that car is still there for sale, great spec, great low price for 06 with 6k etc (I paid £73K for the same 17 months ago)so yeah, bit of a niche taste to sell on

To be honest, that is a little high for an '06 even with that mileage, considering 10k mile models are going for £55k-56k in the desirable colours. Can't say that the green/tan works for me! As you say, black with grey headlining is far better.
its the sort of combination that probably sounded good when ordering it but a bit of a shock when i turned up
what are the desirable colours? meteorite and black seem very popular. And then?
i like the blue silvers - not sure if they were special order or not - grigio alloy i think i saw one for sale as. never seen one in the flesh tho

Judging by the dealer comments, not that pale blue they do!what are the desirable colours? meteorite and black seem very popular. And then?

Black, silver (all variants) and to a lesser extent Toro red seem to be the favourites

I don't think it's the combo that doesn't work - it's the Kestrel contemporary tan alone that drags the side down. The green outside looks great. The inside looks like the poor thing's had a bad day at the spray-tan studio and come out Tango'ed - of course it could just be the photo...Grant3 said:

Steve, off topic I know, but interested in your opinions on the N400 in comparison with the standard car? Lovely car to drive though and the later style of seat suits my backside better!
Can't really comment on performance as it is still in the 1000 mile run in period and I've only managed 130 miles so far! I do have a run to the south coast in a few weeks which should give me a better chance to get to know the car.
