Now on my 5th Porker, but think the DB9 looks great,
if it goes & handles as well as it looks (& a 996TT) I could be tempted. Saw the AMV8 at Aston HQ & (price aside) it looked like a great package, very stylish.

Popped up to Newport Pagnell yesterday to spec up the DB9. They have some great new colours available. They have binned the stupid hairdresser 'Reds' and 'Blues'.
Can't wait to see it in the flesh !

Keeping both then! wow brave man. I'm very tempted by the DBV8 - how did you decide on the DB9 when not much is available to base a judgment on? R...

Rich...Brave woman actually....No I'll not be keeping both. Can't take much more stress with Trev..
It was a bit of a risk ordering the DB9 without seeing it but I was told it was very much based on the Vanquish and I LOVE the Vanquish!!!Can't say there are many AMs that I don't like so I thought it was a pretty safe bet--and it has paid off,I'm really pleased!

Ooops that'll teach me to look at someone's profile before I reply, mind you in my defense you have almost got a couple of blokes names - fore and aft! Remember Lindsay Buckingham/Fleetwood Mac? p.s. Useless fact I went to the same school as Mick Fleetwood and John MacVie. Rich...

Linz, if its the AMV8 you are referring to then unfortunately the factory do not have any cars to drive. Customers wont be able to get their hands on one until end of 2005. The car is still under engineering evaluation.

My mistake then guys--I'm sure I had read somewhere that it could be seen in the metal at the factory...Unlike the DB9 they have been quite happy to flood the press with pics a long time before it's officially launched...
Rich--I couldn't think of a better 50th Birthday present!!Go on treat yourself

There are only 2 DB9's floating around at the moment and they are both engineering cars. 1st ones are going on the production line soon though.

That's odd. When I toured the factory there was a lot more then that floating around: they are making about 100 prototypes DB9's to test the production methods alone.

Yes, thats right. The cars were going down the line (not at full capacity certainly) even in August to test the facility.

The first cars for dealers and customers are expected in April/May time so I suppose they should get a bit of practice in!

There was a big article about it in the Top gear magazine about a month ago. It was called "How Aston Martin became cooler than Ferrari".

I think it is a bit cooler, but more people have heard of Ferrari than AM.
