AMV8 owners please post their "wish" list for improvements below.
With a bit of luck someone from Aston may use "customer feedback" for the next MY changes.
This isn't a negative thread.. rather proactive, how to make a great car better wink
I'll start with a few of mine..

1/ Allow access to the trip computer display functions without having to loose the digital speedo display

2/ Re-design the stereo/heater/phone display so you can read it in sunlight or with roof down......

3/ All agree Fit a new Nav system biggrin (Others ideas:Touch screen suggested x1 & then x3 said NO. A larger, central sat-nav and computer combined (maybe a COMMAND system from Merc?), which ideally would be mounted lower than where it currently sits, as that would allow for a larger screen plus the trim looks much nicer as a single piece.!

4/ On the Roadster...make a wind deflector that works & improve the heater it's cr*p roof down on a cold day.

5/ Stop the horrible smell of clutch.. particularly after reversing!

6/ Slightly sharpen the handling "feel" (less damped) for a tad more pointy seat of the pants feel to add to the amazing flow.

Others added...

7/ Fit an exhaust valve switch as standard (Fuse 22 on/off)

8/ Improve the throttle response.

9/ give it an AMG 6.3l V8 engine wink

1o) Revert to a more sophisticated flat fascia for the console, made of stamped alloy.

11) Bigger glovebox (with light)

12) Clock chronograph - easy to implement. They could make the glass front act as a switch

13) Anti-reflection coat the dial cover (+stereo)- its inexpensive to do.

14) Reduce weight by 100-200kg!!!!

15) Better cup-holder design that is situated in more sensible place!

16/The inside door handle releases need a finger hole so you can loop your finger in them and pull, rather than trying to get your hand round the back of them.

17/ Ability to remove "Power Beauty Soul"

18/ Switchgear that didn't feel so "plasticky"

19 /On the roadster, put a lockable door on the storage compartment between/behind the seats (like on a Z4 for example).

20/ Make the std tracker fob credit card size so I can fit it in my wallet.

21/ Put better bulbs in the interior lights also... they're a bit dim.

22/ Improve the paint... "my front looks like it has been shot at with a shot gun".

23/ Improve BlueTooth phone functions .

24/ Auto-dimming lights & rain sensors!

25/ Stick a stonking great V12 in. Oh, hang on.............. smile

26/ Keyless-go.

27/ Dual zone climate control.

I prefer the old console layout than the new blinged up one. I would:

1) Revert to a more sophisticted flat facia for the console, made of stamped alloy.

2) Bigger glovebox

3) Touch screen sat-nav

4) Clock chronograph - easy to implement. They could make the glass front act as a switch

5) Anti-reflection coat the dial cover and stero diplay cover - its inexpensive to do.

6) Reduce weight by 100kg!!!!

7) Better cupholder design that is situated in more sensible place!

Thank heaven the clutch smell isn't just me! I always fear I'm destroying the clutch, particularly when reversing uphill.

The inside door handle releases need a finger hole so you can loop your finger in them and pull, rather than trying to get your hand round the back of them.

(not sure if this one can be changed) I'd rather it didn't tell me every time the phone is paired.

Ability to remove "Power Beauty Soul"

And I agree with XXANGELXX if they had the Merc 6.3 V8, you'd get loads more torque, more power and better economy, and a sound that's just as good.

Switchgear that didn't feel plasticky

I don't need a speedo that goes to 240mph..

The Aston Gods must be listening, after posting a similar request on the AMOC last year - it looks like some of the items have been addressed in current versions. In fact, one of my customer satisfaction calls from AM, the AMOC thread was mentioned in terms of what else I would like to see added to the list for future versions of the Vantage or the brand in general.

Aston Martin - Here's what we want from your Future Cars!!

You can get your finger in toward the front edge?

Mine...All mentioned already.

Make it much lighter (I'd go for 200kg off!).

Throttle improvement.

Sat Nav - current one is an abomination.

Better tracker set up.

Better bluetooth phone set up.

In fact, better electronics all round. Let's make them up to date rather than 3 generations old. And have much more user selectability.

The only thing that bugs me about mine (I don't have nav or blue teeth) is the soft paint. The front looks like it has been shot at with a shot gun. Getting it blown over all the time is a real pain.

I have heard merc have paint with ceramic elements in that is supposed to be as hard as nails.
Apart from that all the other minor annoyances have become eccentric niceties over time.

Great sentence - well put. Just shows that a perfect car doesn't necessarily make a 'good' car or a car that you fall in love with. I bet you wouldn't consider those "minor annoyances" in the same way if they were on say a BMW 3Series. smile Two of the 'best' cars I've ever owned were my MK1 & 2 Clio V6's. In theory, complete rubbish against some others I've been lucky enough to own but wonderful nevertheless.

Thanks. Had a 4.7 out for a play the other day and it really is just right now isn't it? The V12V may become the 'ultimate' Vantage but I have my worries that it might not actually be the 'best' - if you see what I mean.

You are right, the 4.7 is what the V8 should always have been, much more of an overall improvment than the sum of its parts! It now has "enough" power a sharper chassis with improved steering feel, addictive acceleration & feels more "Aston like" i.e.. effortless (nice & grunty in the midrange);)alongside those interior tweaks!

Having said this I think the V12 will be one VERY special beast, with all the Aston feel good factors & Lambo levels of grunt & grip.. Mmmmm you lucky chap smile
