After several drives and much soul searching, it's just not the car for me. Wanted something a bit more 'GT3ish' tbo. Also, at £150k, I can get a lightly used Scud
Pity - but this new 458 looks likely to change the whole landscape, and it makes the V12V look a great car but £30k too expensive. I just hope that it looks as good in the flesh (the general view of the Maserati GT and the Brera for that matter was they were eye wateringly beautiful - on the road they turned out to be a bit crude)

The 458 is likely to be 190k+ once it has "options" loaded. So it's going to be a division up from even the V12V. Not that this would matter much IMO (140k is still a lot to drop on a car. If you have it, 190k is unlikely to be a problem).

As for the Maser GT, I think that looks better in the flesh.

The Brera I agree with!

Well chaps.. I'm also shaking things up a bit... firstly, I don't think the 458 is such a looker so I'm just not going to even go there and save myself the quandary!

Second, I have been playing with the idea of taking a walk on the dark side for a bit and tasting what Lamborghini has to offer. I'm not overly enamoured with my Aston dealer's attitude towards putting together a good deal for me on either the V12V or a DBS, and I think they've gotten a little too comfortable with me being such a regular customer!

So perhaps what I might consider, is replacing the Vantage with a Lamborghini Spyder now, and giving them something to think about, and then later on replacing my M6 with a DBS or something as a daily... I dunno, right now I've just got no idea! Not a bad dilemna to have though I suppose.

Hi Jus - personally find all current Lambos a bit 'naff' image wise. Hey ho, some people probably don't realise just how hard and stressful it is having to make these decisions! Deposit now down on the Fezza. G/F getting V8Roadster so I can't loose really! Quite right re your dealer - make the bugger work. Been to the Leopard Lounge recently - I never did get there this winter. Will do later this year though.

Pugs, agreed, a year or two ago during the boom years when every second asshole owned one I wouldn't have touched them. However, the recession here has had one helluva cleansing effect, and they've all vanished from the streets (easy come, easy go!) and are now on dealer floors at very attractive prices with salesmen who are keen to do a deal. Hence I think it's now safe to play a bit and try a little on the wild side... wouldn't mind a bit of drama/theatre in my life, been in Astons for 3 years solid now, I'm a bit tired of being so subtle and restrained! biggrin Gave a Gallardo Spyder a go recently and loved it.

Occasionally still pop to the 12 Apostles for dinner, it's one of the g/f's favourite spots, considering it was the location of probably one of the early dates I took her on which "sealed the deal"... wink

I tried a friends LP560 and I couldn't fit in at all so that solved that problem.

I run an M6 and a Q7 as my dailies, so I'm looking for something a bit more exciting and a bit less practical I guess for my "toy"... I guess what I almost like is that the Gallardo is a bit useless... strange as that sounds! smile

Must admit Murph... I always thought of it as a Gallaudi, but I was quite surprised to find it is a fair bit more Lambo and bit less Audi than I thought... and the build quality certainly can't touch Astons, so it's definitely Italian! biggrin

Nothing wrong with that Jus, the Lambo is an awesome car, ironically in LP-560 form it makes the 4.7 Roadster look like "value" (if you can say that about an optioned £105k+ car) but it is a more raw addictive experience pressing on if your license can survive the onslaught winkthe only thing I worry about is the image, but a darker colour should help sort that!
My itchy feet would really like a Vantage V12, but I'm not paying an extra £60k-70k for the privilege, so at under 100k we have the new Audi V10 (VERY nice)a used Gallardo as you suggest, a used 430 as Pugs suggests (same poor image in the UK) or a used DBS, Angel's has been so badly thrashed it will only be worth 2p by now, so maybe we should both make him an offer on that biggrin

I'm afraid it would feel a bit too much like sitting in my Q7 tank to sit in an R8! wink
