Hi - I too picked up my new V8 at the weekend and had a nice long drive home enjoying the drive and the sound of that "fuse22-less" 4.7!!! I assume you got a great deal from Belfast to justify the effort and cost of the ferry etc back to London. I hadnt contacted them myself thinking that their might be issues with Irish registered cars on the mainland?

Anyway - as for driving position, this is how Porsche tell you to get the perfect driving position on their driving tuition days.

1) Bring the seatback up to a fairly upright position but one that your are still comfy with and adjust seat height to your ideal.

2) fully depress the clutch to the floor and adjust the seat forward/backward so that your back is fully against the seats and your knee is just slightly bent.

3) Put your arms straight out towards the windscreen and adjust the steering wheel for height and rake so that when your wrists are in alignment with top of the wheel. Your arms should be relaxed but straight. Lock the wheel in position - you should then find that when you grasp the wheel at 3pm and 9pm that your arms are slightly bent.

4) Adjust lumbar/bolsters as fitted for comfort.

I always set my cars up like this now and I find it is not only very comfortable but also gives you much better control of the car than the more usual "reclined and comfy" setup that most drivers adopt.

Are you a runner or a skier by any chance? I get this a lot and it's due to a mis-spent youth running a lot anc causing wear injuries to my medial ligaments :-(

Cruise control?? ;-)

thanks guys will try this evening (racing home from work to take her for a spin... great way to reduce weekday drinking!). Funnily enough it's the other knee with the skiing injuries but you are probably right.
Cannot get over how much fun it is, even driving around London. My 89 year old grandmother insisted I drive her to her friend's house so they could both admire her, and then started measuring up the boot to see if her golf clubs would fit... think there may be another one in the family shortly!

also got the car from Belfast because it was great value for spec/mileage.
Hope you are enjoying yours as much!

Have you been tunnel running yet?

Kingsway tunnel, Dartford, blackwall, M25 in Hertfordshire, A1 Hatfield....

The simple pleasure of red-lining in 2nd in an enclosed space with the windows down is not to be underrated....

I cannot wait for the A3 tunnel at Hindhead to open in 2011 (its only a few miles from me). 1.5 miles of glorious sound with the windows down. Every owner with anything sounding serious is going to flock to this location like moths to a light bulb. spin
