Anyone got this yet?? I am very impressed. Large book, 192 pages in Green called "The ultimate History of Aston Martin"

it covers the all models, including the DB9 and V8 vantage- about as upto date as possible. Written by Andrew Noakes, its also surprisingly (for a M&S book) accurate: they know what a DB6 Mk2 is, for wexample. Everything is well laid out, with nice 9if familiar) photographs.

Oh, its only £10. On ebay some poeple are selling it for £20+. Go onto the M&S website if your local store doesn't have it.

Well worth the read, although I havent seen the DVD yet. I know someone who has, and he likes it a lot.

Yes, got the book couple of months ago and it is very good. The DVD came my way at Christmas and is really well done and contains some great footage. There is a couple of little faux pas for the conniseur (like showing a V8 Coupe and calling it a Virage) but that is just me nit-picking.

All in all it is very impressive and excellent value.

Yes I invested £10 in this book after browsing it at M&S, as you say some interesting stuff in it, especially for me the earlier history which I hadn't seen much of before. Rich...

Glad you liked it.

I can't comment on the DVD, though, because I wasn't involved. I haven't even seen it!

So Andrew,

As you were the author, can i ask how much research you put into the book? I only ask as its obviously very well researched and accurate: I was just wondering how much time that takes??

Oh, did you have any control over the DVD??? Not much on the 1970-1980's V8 range, and none at all on the V8 Vantage. My only criticism in an otherwise excellent addition to my Aston bookshelf

Didn't even know there was a DVD until somebody emailed me to say he'd bought the book and could I tell him if the DVD was similar... I wonder if the lack of 1980s material coincides with an era when the factory had more important things to worry about, ie survival?

I can't even guess how long it took to research because I've been keeping tabs on Aston history for years and have piles of reference material. My main problem was deciding what to leave out, because the 192 pages I had to play with could only skim the surface of a 90-year history.

Finally got around to ordering the book and picked it up at the weekend - very impressed! A lot better than I was expecting for a tenner, well written with some great pics. Does anyone know if the DVD is actually a new one or is it a re-hash of the "Best of British" one from Duke Video?

I'm not sure if it's a re-hash, but it's worth £10 for the DB9 section alone.
