Does a blackberry sync up with the bluetooth handsfree facility in the latest AM's ? My current handset works but I am about to change and my N400 has gone back this week as part of an early exchange for my new car so can't test for myself.

My Bold works fine with my 07 V8VR. I've also just had it programed to give the car the code so I don't need to carry the black tags about anymore. Happy days.

AM have sent back a message saying that the only phone that should work MOST of the time is an iphone. Notwithstanding that the iphone is in use by a relatively small percentage of the UK population it is at best only available on one network that serves less than 25% of network users as well. It might work......For a UK car manufacturer I would have liked a little more certainty. It's a good job that the rest of the car and service is fantastic (well except for the sat nav)

I've tried two iphones (both 2G) with my 07 V8V - one worked perfectly, one didn't respond at all....

Anyone tried with the new HTC Hero ?

Cheers,

Chris

Possibly no help but my HTC Touch Pro works fine.

Should work on the 08my onward. Blackberrys can be a pain though as they try to send too much info to the cars bluetooth. This can sometimes stop the car from syncing properly. 07 bluetooth is a Motorola unit and cannot be updated by Aston.

No.

My Blackberry does not automatically connect with car (it only works about 10& of the time).

It's a pain.

Has anybody managed to use an iPhone to replace the black tags? If so, how does one go about it?

Yep.

You need to know your phone's "bluetooth name" (it's in one of the settings areas of the phone - typically it'll be whatever your phone is called when you plug it in to sync up with iTunes.

You then get in the car with the phone and bluetooth switched on, phone the tracking people up and explain what you want to do. They then step you through it.

Takes about 10mins or so.

Make sure you have an iPhone charger in the car at all times. The iPhone isn't known for its massive battery performance, and if you run out of juice not only will the tracker go off, but you have no means of answering the alarm calls from the alerts people. That said, it's a much better solution than the crappy tags!

My Blackberry Curve 8300 syncs with the Bluetooth on my 2010 V8V every time with no problems at all. Just works as it should.

Sounds more like a settings problem on the phone than a problem with the car. To get a blackberry to connect every time you need to let the phone find the car and then set it to "trusted" connection, otherwise it will pick it up and drop it immediately.
Go to options, bluetooth, menu key, device properties, and you should get the car bluetooth name at the top followed by trusted, encryption, and echo control, ensure the trusted is set to "yes".
Obviously the bluetooth on both needs to be set to "discoverable - yes" (Go to options, bluetooth, menu key, options, dicoverable - yes)

good luck.

There are are problems with firmware both on the phones and the cars, make sure the latest firmware is on your phone, and if you still have problems a reflash to the the latest level on the bluetooth module may be in order, also bluetooth modules with early firmware had a glitch of locking up, and needed disconnecting and reconnectiong to get to work properley again,

Had a Blackberry Pearl prior to the iPhone. Never had a problem with that either (07 car).

Even voice dialling worked (am assuming when I eventually get the next model of iPhone - currently have a 3G - it'll work on that too).

Try turning Sim Access Profile off on the iphone. There was a previous thread on this. Had to do it on my HTC HD2 to get it to pair properly

Just Phoned Eurowatch to pair my 3GS iPhone with the Aston tracker but was told that it is incompatible. Apparently Apple have confirmed that it won't work and there are no plans to change it.

Bugger, i was hoping to get rid of those bloody tags furious

to be honest the tracker is a pain in the ar5e. i won't be renewing it next year. even with my phone / instead of those silly big tags its such a pain...and for so little insurance discount. fine, if you have to have a tracker then using your phone is great and convenient, but if you don't 'have' have a tracker then don't would be my advice. the porsche tracker was a tiny fob as big as a 50 pence piece...why aston's is like a frizby I have no idea !
